I finally popped over here as the realignment board is now boring....the Big-12 fans defending their precious "round robin" scheduling, endless pitches for ECU to the SEC, and incessant whining from UCONN, South Florida and Cinci fans.

That I really can't blame you on. #1 reason why I hate going there myself and I'm a mod smh. Hopefully this place catch's on for sure.

I hope to see some really good football conversations here, especially in the Fall. I enjoy your posts on the CR board and hope you will starts some threads here. When people post threads it is sometimes the best way to get to know them. Hope your wife will post too. JR

RE: SEC Check in Thread
Well, my father covered WVU for over 3 decades, and I grew up at Mountaineer Field. But I've lived in Vol country for the last 21 years. My wife also got her Bacholor's at UK, her Masters at UT, and retired from UT in 2004. She went to school for a while at South Carolina before transferring to UK. So I've got some interest in SEC sports. I even go to Neyland stadium once in a while, whenever I get some free tickets...

That's why I only go there when I get free tickets. I hate fighting the crowds...

However, I should be able to swing free tickets more often now that Dave Johnson is the TE coach. My wife's cousin is Johnson's wife. I might even be able to swing a sideline pass or 2...

Yes, a Neyland and its rehabilitation is a towering monument to the incompetence and indebtedness of the Mike Hamilton Administration. That being said, nothing beat talking a ride down the TN River to the game.

RE: SEC Check in Thread
I was the fourth generation (dad's side) to attend UT. My father's family is born and bred in Knoxville; dad went to Central, my aunts went to Fulton, cousins went to Halls.. you get the idea.

I honestly can't think of a better place to spend four years. However, after freshman year my father was assigned to a yearlong deployment in Iraq. I decided to come home to support my mother during the deployment and while home I decided to work full-time and pay for my own education. Since I was a Virginia resident and out-of-state tuition being what is, I chose ODU (where I will graduate from this fall). I still love the Vols (spend a good amount of time at RTT) and make the trek to Neyland once a year but it's been a rough couple of years. I'm hopeful Butch will bring back some pride to the defensive side of the ball and think if anyone will, he can. Glad to have this board come alive!

Let's not get carried away though JR. A few are good to have around, like pets. In larger numbers they could be considered an infestation. 05-stirthepot 03-lmfao

Small Pox I've heard of. Are you telling me there is Vol Pox to be concerned about? Isn't that what they administer the Saban vaccine for? If so I'm in trouble. I have a bad reaction to anything that has Saban in it.

Aw hell. I guess this is where I can confess my following of Vandy football... As much as MT fans will decry me for it, I do like Vandy football and I root for them all the time (except playing MT of course, when I hate Vandy with a passion! LOL). Go Dores. I grew up in Nashville area and went to MT games for decades, but I always did listen to Vandy football and I've been watching them just as closely (well, maybe not, but you get the idea).

I've got a soft spot for Vanderbilt myself. After all, I got my transplant at Vandy, and will be 9 years old on June 30th. I look like hell for a 9 year old too...

Glad you found the thread. We need a voice for Vandy on this board.

After retiring from the USAF in 1999, I went to work for TRICARE/ Humana Military Healthcare Services. I can tell you that Vanderbilt is an awesome med center. Sent a ton of military and their families to Vandy for treatment. Big time facility. Another was UAB Med Center. This is why I laugh when people say the South/SEC folks don't measure up... these med centers are among the tops in the country...
