Then you have a BCS champiosnhip at Jerry World and the Cotton Bowl. Plus the UT/OU game in Dallas. Then the just added another bowl in Dallas I think. Maybe the Sun Belt could tap into that.

Heart of Dallas bowl, I believe, is the one you're thinking of.

That's it. I wouldn't mind a tie in there. Easy to get to for Texas St, stAte, ULM, and UL fans.

It is an easy trip for ULM and ULL and lots of potential opponents from the new Big East, CUSA, SEC, Big 12 within the vicinity. Not a bad trip for USA.

Geographically it makes since.... War Memorial Stadium could work. I'm not sure what ties the Razorbacks have with the stadium though.

I've never been to Little Rock. Is there stuff for fans to do?

Just my opinion, but you would probably like Little Rock. Prettier town than you might expect, nice size, and a downtown/river front area that has come into its own in the last few years. Whether you are a Clinton fan or not presidential libraries are usually interesting, and his is worth a few hours look.

Replace WKU with Missouri State. Put Missouri State in the East (at least for time being). This does two things. We get our 12th member for football, but with Missouri State in the East if gives us balanced divisions in basketball. We would have UALR, UTA, Louisiana, ASU, ULM, and Texas State in the West and USA, Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, Missouri State, and Troy in the East. For football we'd replace UALR and UTA with Idaho and NMSU. If Idaho were to leave, add JMU to the East and send Missouri State to the West. Since Arkansas State would have a big interest in Missouri State, they could be cross division rivals. Louisiana could go East in Missouri State's place, but that is their call.

Missouri State would be a could replacement for when Louisiana leaves!!

I'd say an easy trip for ASU and ULM. But UL would be a 6+ hour trip. That's not as easy as New Orleans or Mobile for UL fans. UL, USA, GSU, Troy, and TxSt are all 6-8 hours from LR.

New Orleans is a 10 hour drive from Statesboro.

But it's a quick flight from Atlanta which is where most southern fans live.

Come on man you know every GaSo fan lives in Statesboro by the way it would probably kill our rep if people thought otherwise,02-13-banana

The Big Eazy is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Hot Atlanta. Just hit the interstate and put the petal to the medal and let her rip. You will be there in no time flat.03-lmfao

Don't just automatically assume I'm trying to argue or complain, I was just stating a fact. I've made the drive to NOLA myself numerous times.

It's not that. It's the fact that I wasn't talking about Georgia Southern in my initial post. I was talking about the distance to Little Rock. My only reference to New Orleans (& Mobile) was that it was a much easier drive than Little Rock for UL fans. I made no mention to Georgia Southern but it somehow got brought into the conversation, hence: 03-banghead

No. Will not happen. Big Sky to remain FCS and Idaho is totally committed to continue FBS and can economically maintain football only in the SBC. If realignment goes to where there is no FCS and we have tiers of FBS, I would say yes --- that FBS status conference called the Big Sky would be a fit. I do not see the FCS melding and upgrading women/men sports to meet an FBS criteria; unless the new model by the NCAA lessens its standards.

I see what you're saying. In my defense I lived in NOLA for a while and you mentioned a lot of other Sunbelt schools, so I thought Id add my 2 cents. I now realize I was in error. Trust me I wasn't trying to bring added attention to GSo.

As far as this thread is concerned I think we definitely wait for the right team, even though not having a championship game in 2014 might be a bit disappointing to some of the players and fans.

Shame on us if we cant get 20K to drive 6 hours. We dont deserve a football team.

I'm with you on that one Z. I was just putting things in perspective. The drive to LR for UL fans would be similar to the drives that TxSt, GSU, Troy, and USA fans would be facing.

It has been about 15 years since I visited friends in the Little Rock area. It was really nice and I can only imagine it getting better.

RE: Karl Benson interview from today about realignment
1) I would like to make a suggestion to one of the mod's that maybe we have an "official 2014 Realignment Thread" so that when we get bits and pieces of info relevant to the topic we don't have to keep creating different threads. I say that because I didn't really know what thread to post the link below in and didn't want to annoy people by creating another very specific realignment thread.

2) Here are some comments directly from our AD about what the Sun Belt is now searching for, for a new conference member. Nothing ground breaking, but does clarify a few things that we have been discussing. (Fast forward to about 3:30)

RE: Karl Benson interview from today about realignment
Interesting. A month ago our AD said the league had voted to expand to 12 and he certainly implied it would be done by June 1. Fast forward a month later and he now says the league wants to make sure it does not add the wrong team or add a team only to have 3-4 very qualified candidates a year later and regret the add this year.

What I take from this is that the Sun Belt will stay at 11 this year.

Funny how different people get different things out of what he said there. He left it wide open. They are discussing things, staying aware of things, etc.

My post about TK's conversation is from today. I posted in this thread because none of the other realignment threads seemed appropriate.

It's not specifically about Liberty, or EKU, or UMASS. So I didn't really wanna post it in those threads.
