Report: Mountain West approaches Pac-12 about partnership
The Mountain West has approached the Pac-12 about a potential partnership, Jeremy Fowler of CBSSports.com reports. MWC commissioner Craig Thompson hopes the two leagues can form an alliance around nonconference scheduling, bowl matchups and officials. Together, the MWC and Pac-12 count 24 West Coast teams as members.

The MAC has an officials and scheduling deal with the B1G plus 1 shared bowl game.
If the MAC can do it with the B1G I don't see why the MWC and PAC can't do the same.

agree Kit cat. Pac has always had bowl problems of its own. to deal with. The MWC is in a good spot in that manner, and both can help the other. AAC has no such situation on East coast.

It makes sense, especially with regards to officials and bowls. Really think the trend with minor bowls will be to go regional.

AAC has to try and get the mid tier SEC teams. Big 12 is going with the ACC to fill the void. The SEC doesn't really need to schedule hard OOC games, but regionally, it is probably the best fit, although that is really a stretch.
They are just too dispersed, but they still have good markets, so I am sure they can trickle their OOC with SEC/B1G/Big 12/ACC and even PAC schools every so often. I don't think the MWC wants any part of scheduling us, outside of possible games in Texas or the East coast, where other conferences can fill that void. Otherwise the AAC has to backfill with C-USA teams.
It's a mess for the AAC. Just hope the Big 12 gets raided big time and the AAC and remaining Big 12 undergo some kind of merger. I am thinking the PAC 16 with Kansas/OU schools out there, UT going to the ACC, B1G, or Indy, and the rest of the schools merging. The ACC looks pretty safe right now.

MWC and PAC teams play each other every year OOC and in Bowl Games,
not sure what the big deal is about.
