I agree with the both....and if we are wait'n on ND we are going to be wait'n for a while. But with the scheduling agreement I have no issue with ND keep'n their current status.

Another thing, the ACC is very good @ keeping a secret. This vote was done last Friday morning yet it didn't come to light to the general public until yesterday afternoon.

The ACC wasn't always so good at keeping secrets. I well remember April, 2003 when the ACC was attempting its first raid on the Big East. Around April 15th, one of the NYC tabloids leaked the news that Miami, Boston College, and Syracuse were planning on leaving for the ACC. All hell then broke lose. The ACC failed to get the expected seven votes required for expansion and the drama dragged on into May and then well into June of that year. Vote after vote was taken by ACC presidents and expansion failed every time. The whole fiasco was covered in breathless fashion by the news media.

Long story short---the delay allowed politics to get involved resulting in Virginia Tech getting an ACC invite over Syracuse. It was a huge embarrassment for Swofford and the ACC. Since that time the ACC has obviously learned some valuable lessons about the need for secrecy when it comes to conference realignment matters.

GREAT POST.

It also shows how committed the Acc was in keeping all of this confidential. Its quite a feat for 15 presidents and 15 AD's and who knows how many others, such as lawyers and secretaries and TV exexcutives, to not leak something until the deal was pretty much done. Same with the invites to Pitt and SU.

To be fair to the ACC, they had been discussing it for month and months before it leaked. They were going to do site visits when the stuff leaked at the 12th hour. And even then, the only reason it did not pass was due to some fortuitous circumstances for Virginia Tech. The ACC needed 7 out of 9 votes for expansion and UNC and Duke voted no on everything. That meant Virginia's vote was the key vote and VT whined enough to the Governor to pressure Virginia into voting no. If UNC or Duke were not ******* about the whole thing, it could have sailed right on through.

But yes, they've obviously either gotten better or just streamlined the process. Pitt and Syracuse came in much, much quicker.

I guess he put all his cred (what little he had) in the basket of Miami to the XII and UNC to the SEC as done deals with no last minute circumstances that could change them. With yesterday's revelation, it was quite clear that he was dead wrong.

No, they are done deals. He just had the dates wrong. July 1, 2027, Miami is heading to the Big 12 and UNC is heading to the SEC.
