RE: Yohanny Dalembert
Didn't we establish that we have no scholarships available for next year?

we also established that Brady is still out recruiting for the Class of 2013, so what does that tell you?

We did talk about both of these points and maybe even my question, but here I go, how do red shirts affect our scholarships?

a redshirt is still on scholarship and counts toward the 13

The answer is so obvious I can't believe no one sees it - we're going FBS! Brady has an extra 22 scholarships to work with!

The coaches were wooing a recruit and his family on campus today, I hear. No idea who though. Brady and staff don't seem that concerned about the contract situation. If he ends up walking, some Div III school is gonna get its best recruiting class ever!

I saw Brady, Deane and another coach with a recruit that had a Benedictine bookbag on. I assumed it was Gill, guy mentioned before on here, but I'm not sure.

I really hope it was Gill. Need him to be on the Dukes despite the weird scholarship issue.

Spring signing started April 17th and I have yet to see any announcements where we actually signed spring commitments. So maybe it is still a wide open situation?

My guess, the recruits are all waiting for Brady to sign his contract first.

Dukes have also offered 2014 Benedictine shooting guard Robert Johnson, according to Cumberland Times (believe that was the publication). He was Benedictine's leading scorer this past season. Also has an offer from VCU as per that same article.

RE: Yohanny Dalembert
Did a little bit of research on this kid yesterday. He looks to be athletic and a defensive stopper and rebounder that can play the 3, 4 and 5 positions. Best part of his offensive game is in transition. He attends Lower Merion HS, Kobe Bryant's alma mater, of course. Best player on that team is B.J. Johnson, who will be attending Syracuse. JMU recruited Johnson. Lower Merion was seemingly a very good team this past season (won at least 13 in a row after losing first game to start the season). Dalembert's stats, from what little I saw, were pedestrian (just under 11 points a game). He's only been playing ball for a couple of years and is the younger brother of NBA player Samuel. Will be interesting to see if either this kid or Gill or both join the team at some point.

would still feel better if we brought in another ball handler instead of a big guy.

RE: Yohanny Dalembert
DD --

I'm in agreement basically...think that every team should have three point guards if possible. Also, this team is already loaded with forwards, most of whom are all in the incoming class. A team needs to be balanced between the frontcourt and the backcourt, but also across classes. There are already going to be 6 players in the freshman class, including the redshirt. In the video I briefly watched of Dalembert, he's extremely raw and I would consider him to be a developmental player, at least on offense. The other fellow, Gill, is much more skilled. To run off any players from the team at this point, Brady has to really like a player, since that scholarship is perhaps better utilized out in the future. As things currently stand, they have only three openings the next two seasons. That number drops, of course, if any other players are added at this point.
