Great news for Troy even without the details 28 million is a sizable investment in an already nice stadium.The SBC has a realistic chance of surpassing C-USA and the MAC maybe catching the MWC in time.The SBC may be better than the MAC already hard to tell with so many changes.

Am always going to root for Belt teams to win against the OOC. Helps all Belt schools, especially with

Have not seen a budget line up on the field to play. See a ton of schools with budgets that dwarf the MAC that cannot play football worth a tinkers damn.

Having a budget advantage helps but you don't get a trophy for just standing on top of money bags making pronouncements of superiority.

Yup... Troy has always been known for doing more with less.... I think our athletic budget is 18million.

If you're in the vicinity of $20 million, you're going to be fine, USM is a perfect example of this. I'm pretty sure they were the low budget in the conference for years at $19 million.

ULM has managed to be mediocre more often than not in football(with scattered terrible seasons and last season being easily their best since their FCS championship) and their budget may be the smallest in FBS. It's true, budget guarantee you nothing, but it gives you a much larger margin for error and gives you much more flexibility in scheduling. If you continually make poor decisions it doesn't matter how deep your pockets are(Memphis football) but with those deep pockets you can afford to roll the dice and buy your way out of expensive mistakes. When you have a small budget and make a mistake, sometimes you're just stuck with that mistake.

A budget won't win you any games and in any one game once the ball is kicked budgets are irrelevant, but over a ten year period, any objective outsider will put their money on the program(s) with a higher budget.
