AB says...... Btw we have signed an SEC team home and home and it Gould be announced in a couple months. They are also working on another power team for a home and home.

You wouldn't be talking about the Tigers and the Rebs, would you?

The NCAA is very unlikely to get involved with scheduling, but if it considered it a matter of fairness, it might require ANY team to pay - say, DOUBLE (or more) - the usual amount of a welched deal buyout when a team simply doesn't want to finish a contract.

That is stupid. There are any number of reasons why a team might buyout a game. New coach, other changes in their schedule etc. I would not want UAB having to pay "DOUBLE" to Texas Southern after we canceled our contract when they hired Davis.

I would guess the buyout amount is included in the contract, so there is an agreement in place and the NCAA does not need to further complicate things.

Davis coming back to UAB this past season would have been a bad idea. I doubt UAB paid anything to buy out that contract. (Others may say I'm wrong)

No one is talking about Davis's contract. I'm talking about the game we had contracted with Texas Southern

I'm not certain that it ever got that far... I saw that game tentatively scheduled online, then cancelled, but it may or may not have had a signed contract requiring a payout.

I think Band dad is right but I could be wrong. There was more to it than just not wanting to play Davis. Davis showed his butt in the process from what I was told.

FYI, UK will not be coming to Birmingham after all... seems Kentucky will be buying their way out of the pseudo-home game at the BJCC.

Can't come up with a date?

I suspect this is how Kentucky conveniently responded.

Hey Kentucky, how about Nov 20th? Nope, not available.
Nov 21st? Nope, not available.
Nov 22nd? Nope, not available.
.......
Jan 15th? Nope, not available.

Is there any reason to think that Kentucky is afraid to play Samford? I suspect that Kentucky would welcome a game n Birmingham against a team they most likely will beat. It gives local alumni a game and helps with recruiting. Maybe just maybe they couldn't agree on a date.

They are playing Robert Morris next year. And Samford is no Bob Morris.

At home...in a tournament style setting.

That's much different than what occurred in the NIT, and that's exactly why they don't want to play Samford.
