I think TX ST has the nicest Sun Belt Stadium....seen it in person, very impressive. They need to bowl in the side closest to the athletic complex all the way up to the complex. The only (minor) drawback is that their stadium stops on the 5 yard line on (I think) the south side.

Georgia Southern has the flattest stands I have ever seen. Why was this done? I think they would be better off making their stadium into a bowl. It looks like the land is already laid out to accomplish this. Why make an upper deck when you can make a bowl much cheaper.

What was the reason in making ASU's press box small and skinny. Looks kind of wierd.

ULL's stadium looks like it could be easily bowled in, with all the people sitting on the berms. Any talk of that.

I probably like Troy's second best. The double decker, bowled in stadiums look and feel big time.

Just a couple comments from an outsider....please don't take offense.

As a visitor I'll excuse your confusion, we are Georgia Southern, not Georgia State. The grassy hills on the side of our stadium are a big part of our game day atmosphere (for kids to play on, etc.). I think the idea is to keep those around as long as we are able until expansion forces us to close it off and add more seats.

I have no idea why they decided to build at such a low gradient, it makes the stadium look smaller than it is. The upper deck expansion and heightened back rows of the first level will fix that problem pretty quickly.
Um...What?!

The bowling end of the SEZ will be done when attendance warrants. (or the funds are all in place, I forget which)
Some say it will be started next season (2014-15) but we'll have to see. There will be a 3rd deck added to the east side and 2nd deck suites meeting up with the EZ complex, on both sides.

I don't think its coming. Was once seen on 2014-2015 budget but now seems like its left off plans. I don't see the point other then to make it look nice. Stands are half empty as it is.

I tweeted our AD about the stadium expansion. He responded.

@MichaelAvant Are we doing time-lapse photography/video of the stadium expansion?
@KleinleinAD Great thought I will ask about it..

May not seem like a big deal to some, but for Southern fans, it is SO NICE to have a AD that is in touch with the fans and is responsive. The previous tenant of this position left MUCH to be desired.

RE: Favorite Stadium of the SBC.
I actually prefer the deck to bowling it in. Bowled in stadiums look good in some cases, but I personally am not a fan of of it for Paulson. I think with Bishop Fieldhouse on one end, and the big FOC on the other, it will look better, particularly with the brick style wall surrounding the field. And those two structures will give somewhat of a closed in look....as well as keep some of the grass hills available (yes, I'm a grass hill fan as well....it's actually one of the reasons that I like the look of ULL stadium).

Your pictures for Idaho's are out of date and during a high school football game. There is a lot that needs to be improved upon (as all Idaho fans know) but hopefully things are well on their way to expanding capacity to go along with the recent renovation and premium seating project.

This might make some Southern fans upset but the "Kids sliding down the hills" crap is older generation. The younger upcoming generation thinks this is small school stuff.
Hopefully in 20yrs its circled around to the buildings. I still dont know why we are going to have 2 buildings, 1 in one end-zone 1 in the other. What Im hoping and from the plans I have seen it seems like we are feeding off Florida St's stadium (http://chronicle.com/blogs/players/files...02/fsu.jpg ). Paulson will eventually be domed in with the 2 buildings.

Needs to be noted from what Ive read the upper deck will eventually be the middle deck, thats why it has a low seating number.

I know I upset Ark St fans with how low I ranked them, I was just saying I think you guys would be much better expanding your stadium to be more of a coliseum. The stadium looks like my high school stadium on steroids. Do what Texas St did cover the skeleton. I hope Southern does the same, only deference it will only be 1/4 of our stadium, yours is the whole thing.

TXST did this with the NEZ construction. It updated every 15 minutes and kept a log so you could go to the site and start at day 1 of construction and see the time lapse up until the last shot taken.
They had the camera on the corner of the West side. You could "move" it slightly and zoom in. It was on its own page on the Athletics Site.

It was pretty cool for folks that did not live in and around the campus. I got to see a lot of progress during baseball season but I relied on it a whole lot between FB and BsB and after graduation until the opening home game in September.

Anyway, I don't see why they woudln't be able to get it done by the start of the 2014 season. The FOC building would take longer than the seating expansion. I think the deck itself is actually only about 4,000 seats.

I'm telling you all though, not that it really matters, that original picture doesn't do any justice at all to Paulson. Come for a visit, it really does have that "prettiest little stadium in America" feel to it when you're there for a game.

I saw Paulson for the first time when we played last season, and it was much smaller than I expected from seeing pictures. The gradient of the seating is flatter than any stadium I've ever been to.

I rank Tx State at the top. AppState in top 3 for sure. Comparing all I'd put both GSU's near the bottom... one because they use the Ga Dome, and the other because it needs a major, major renovation and expansion.

Tx State
Troy
AppState
AR State
USA
ULL
ULM
NMST - Sure hope they can spend some money and grow some grass
GSU - Statesboro
Idaho - Please upgrade
GSU

WKU is leaving so unranked.

We were suppose to put in artificial Turf this year, but the NM Legislature decided instead of 750,000 for field turf we will only get 160,000. 03-nutkick Yet they give UNM 1.6 Million for a new score board.

I know that there are many that think of the grass as "small time" or whatever. I don't understand that point of view, but it is what it is. It would be awsome to have a stadium like what is in that link you provided for FSU though, but honestly I don't think I'll ever live to see it, and I'm a graduate of 06. I don't see lot of point in designing these buildings for the endzones just to cover them up.

When I think "long term plans", although I don't know of all of the future designs/ideas, mostly in relation to the FOC building, I think, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, UNC, maybe WVU, ish etc.

Anyway, whatever, it's exciting to think that long term though, for sure.

I see Troy and Ga Southern as sister schools, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech are also in this fraternity.

I believe that from this point forward, the Trojans and the Eagles will be Conference brethren. Our two institutions should stick together, we are so similar and we share a common vision.

Yeah! And that common vision is winning!

Good thing these other schools haven't figured that out yet.

Our budget relies heavily on money from the state. That is how things are done in NM. We do not have big donors. The only way that bonds could work is if UNM was to suggest them or if they were to benefit UNM and even then NMSU would get the short end of the stick. Also the City of Las Cruces wouldn't go for it because in all honesty there is no community involvement or support between NMSU and LC. The community only comes out to games at Aggie Memorial when they are against UTEP and UNM and when Las Cruces High plays Mayfield High. There is a mentality in LC of "if you cant beat our rivals (UNM and UTEP) then we will not show up to other games". It is the same for MBB and our MBB Coach seems to be getting tired of it. We were 15-1 at home this past season. The one loss was to UNM.

Our New FB Coach is working on being more involved with the community. I hope he successful. He will not be mending fences he will be rebuilding them from the ground up.

I look around at other schools similar to NMSU. It seems to me that most schools have found there nich. Yet NMSU is still working on finding its way. Our last president did so much damage to NMSU as a whole. She pissed off State Legislators, donors and alumi (told donors that they could only contribute money to certain things). She burned us at every level. She handled all the conference discussions. She basically said to the MWC and CUSA "What can you do for NMSU? How much money will you pay for us to be in your conference?"
After she left, NMSU has gotten FB into a conference and we have more money for coaches that was previously unavailable for some reason.

Well I made one a little madder then expected, "You make other Southern fans look bad." Sorry your not in the FCS anymore. Every school had some kind of grass or hill for kids to play on, guess what they went into the big times. Our heritage is what we do on the field, its how we live up to Erk's tradition and how we build our university. How fast our school and alumni base are growing we should avg over 30k in 10yrs. Most the grass will have to go by then. This isnt the CUSA this is the Sun Belt its good football and good game day atmospheres. I wish we could have a stadium as complete as Texas St in 10-15 yrs. Might be crazy but it wont be if Eagles like you see the light.
And yes from the master plan I have seen and my understanding from reading our forum the deck they are building will be the middle deck. It will be the upper for quite some time in layman terms but the master plan has it being the middle. If am wrong someone please post the updated master plan.
