Does the SB have an entry fee? Anyone know how much it is?

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

But, since you asked, and you are touting your purse as your best attribute, how about $10,000,000?

ETSU is hiring Phil Fulmer..... as a consultant to bring back football.

Major announcements regarding the future of football at ETSU will be made today during a news conference at 5 pm in the Culp Center Ballroom

https://twitter.com/GrantRamey/status/31...4709180416

Not offering as a solution, but interesting.

You may be correct and have some info that we don't. The JMU beat writer and others associated with JMU are tweeting that JMU has no interest in the SB. They cite acedemic and travel concerns. JMU also recently hired Carr Sports to complete a study that won't come back for several months. It would be odd for JMU to make a move before the report is finalized. Does that mean Liberty is next? Who the heck knows? If the presidents follow this board the school of the blind would get an invite before Liberty. :)

To JMU posters? How much faith do you have in these writers that are tweeting?

Absolutely. Would hope we get the school of the blink before Liberty.

William and Mary would be a good school to add if JMU doesn't come to the SB, but hope James Madison does come.

William and Mary... are you kidding??? I think we can aim a little higher than that guys.

I watched the presser. They're not hiring Fulmer. He's a consultant. He talked in the presser about finding a coach. They didn't even say when they were hitting the field.

Make it 13M so each school, including non-footabll ones, get a million each.

It was just a simple question. I really want to get in the SB just to see the total collapse and meltdown of this board. Some of you will have to double up on your Prozac that day.

A few recent tweets regarding the Sun Belt:

cfoutpost ‏@cfoutpost @WACJack If JMU really doesn't want the spot, is Lamar really going to give up and give Liberty a chance to join the Sun Belt?

I think the WKU replacement is unlikely to come from the west since that would push one of the Louisiana members into the eastern division for football. If JMU says no, Liberty is probably in.

Despite Lamar's past mistake of dropping football and leaving the SBC I think it would be a mistake to overlook them now, especially if JMU declines. As a reference, here's a good thread from the Troy Sports Board:

Wouldn't moving stAte to the east also be a possibility?

I know that as an Idaho fan my opinion doesn't mean much around here, but for what its worth I like the idea of adding Lamar to the conference. I get JMU as the top candidate, but beyond them I think Lamar is a very strong second. And having 2 members in Louisiana, 2 in Texas, NMSU, and Idaho would give the west a decent chance to develop some fun rivalries.

Our AD said in the presser when App joined that the SB entrance fee was $1,000,000.

A little...not much. The football beat writer is still in his first year and I doubt he has a ton of "inside" information and I'm not sure how much digging the basketball guy did. At the same time, they have access to info I don't, so they've got more credibility than me.

Regarding the study, there's really no telling when they actually brought Carr in. We're listed on their site as a past client, so there's rampant speculation about when and for what they were hired. Some think that they've already done a study and have now been hired to broker a deal. Some think they were hired for the first time three weeks ago. Who knows?

The academic and travel concerns are valid, but it's not like they don't exist with the other conferences; plus, some are concerned this would be our last chance to jump for a while.

My opinion is we probably pass on an all sports invite, but I'm hope I'm wrong.

I'm saying 90% chance JMU in SBC. The East division will be OUTSTANDING with the teams already in it plus Madison. I'm not worried about basketball, I think we will all improve that product in the coming years, and if not, your program will go dancing more often. App and Madison help raise the academic profile, and there are a ton of rivalry possibilities. You guys need to just do this.
