Is it that the MAC's better players have a proclivity for getting arrested or we just don't hear as much about the lesser players?

This doesn't look too bad. Sounds like he got into a fight with his ex girlfriend, and possibly stole her car and hit something. Not the worst arrest I've ever heard. He won't miss any playing time.

I would bet hard money he never plays a down again for Miami. There is a history here.

I would imagine the university will send him packing first for this kind of crime. Football will be a moot point.

Some day, he may sit around and ponder how he likely tossed a possible career and lot of potential $$ out the window by an impetuous decision driven by emotion. Maybe not, though. There are still a number of NFL franchises that don't mind taking a flyer on a player with a questionable history, if he comes cheap enough.

Kick him off the team to send a really good message to the players.

I agree. Apparently Miami has had a history of fairly decisive action in these situations and my guess is that he'll never play another down as a Redhawk. His best bet (assuming he is kicked off) will be to transfer to some FCS school in the midwest where he'll play out his senior year, though if I'm a coach I'm hesitant on taking in a player for just one year who's had multiple off the field problems. With his talent though, he'll find a home some place desperate enough to take the risk.

It's a big shame, here's a guy who would've broken most of our major recieving records this fall, but did something stupid one night that'll do nothing but hurt his future.

I'm guessing he had more than one night of doing something stupid.

Harwell was suspended for a game his sophomore year. Last year he missed 3 or 4 games with and "injury" but evidently there was more to it. Now this. I would say he is in for a major punishment if not finished at Miami. He was our best player.

Some old news that I was also unaware of until now: Harwell is now a Jayhawk.
