OT: Student Rec Centers on Campus
I thought this was pretty cool. They had just started on its renovation before I left. I always say I'm going to check it out, but never make it past the River and Square

Texas State Rec Center #13

"Texas State has all of the normal rec center amenities, like basketball courts, a gleaming weight room, cardio areas, and racquetball courts, but they also have an awesome indoor pool, a rock climbing center and a boxing studio. An incredible lobby with a rock climbing arch greets students as the come to work out or participate in activities. Students have no excuse for not being physically fit at Texas State."

Ours is brand new. Pretty sweet. Rock wall, track, basketball courts, indoor and outdoor pools, . . .

This is where our students recreate.

But when the weather's bad, we have this. It's only a few years old.

Raymond B. Preston Health & Activities Center
The Raymond B. Preston Health & Activities Center, on WKU's campus, offers students, faculty, and staff one of the finest recreational sports facilities in the country. Constructed in 1992, the Preston Center added a new dimension to recreational activities, intramural sports, and informal recreation for the university community. Many areas of the original facility, including the locker rooms, natatorium, and administrative spaces have been renovated. Additionally, a 14,000 square foot Fitness Center addition was opened in the Spring of 2010.

Student rec center? What's that?

All joking aside, from what I understand, Troy plans to turn our old Trojan arena into a new student rec center. They need to get busy on that. Our crown jewel is our new cafeteria that opened a year ago. Go figure considering the obesity rate in Alabama. But the cafeteria is amazing!
