With great certainty I can promise that Alabama prepared for GS. They even had a week in the summer dedicated to the option. They had starters in the entire game, so I wouldn't know if their 3rd string could beat us. I'm not here to brag about getting beat by 3 possessions, but saying Saban didn't even prepare is a ridiculous statement.

Also ... the downside is clearly recruiting. PJ could beat anybody with Gailey's recruits. It has been a different story fending for himself. Maybe that is a product of no ideal QB yet and horrible defensive coordinators ... or maybe it is pure recruiting .... or maybe it is some of both.

BTW .... this is what high level execution of the spread option looks like. This is GT absolutely demolishing Kansas.

And as I stated in another thread. We have the same DC back that we had in 2005. We also have better players and I don't doubt Naivar will have the D ready when/if we play GaSouthern.

We're going to need to get much bigger up front to be competitive and the offense will continue to evolve. This is not 1985.

The option isn't that hard to defend.

1)Your D- Line has to play position football
2)Your LBs and Safties have to play the QB and WR/RB in their lane
3)The MLB has to take out the inside cut back from happening
4)You need to expect to give up 300-400 yards on the ground, just hope its from inbetween the 30s.

I love how App State fans are saying "don't ask Dale Jones", and yet in his three years as DC he beat the GSU Flexbone twice and the other time he only gave up 21 points and it was the fault of the offense for losing that game.

I'm sick of our fans acting like our offense is unstoppable by nature. Every offense is unstoppable if you execute. Southern has a rich history of good coaches and players executing a level above our competition. We dont win games just because of our formation or plays. We win because we play well. Hopefully our staff can continue that in our new conference.

In fairness, based on the lack of big defensive highlights in this video, I'd say this game was more of a bad matchup for Navy's defense against your offense than something that could be used against the effectiveness of Navy's offense.

They did score 31 points. That's enough to win plenty of football games. You won't win if your defense gives up 41 though.

That long TD rush before the half was impressive btw.

TROY had the WORST defense in the SBC last year... There's a reason Rowell is no longer our DC.

Also Navy hung 56 on East Carolina who beat App State 35-14

Not that its about the triple option but stAte is changing its offense from the HUNH. but we are moving to a Pro-style fast paced. Harsin wants to go faster than Freeze or HWSNBN. we are all pretty excited about it. i don't know that iv seen a up tempo prostyle offense before.
