I know that there is a real difference in basketball between C-USA and the Sun Belt, and that is the biggest reason that I am for WKU joining.

From the standpoint of survival, both are stable. But it's an unstable membership, and rivalries are being destroyed. For USA, our hoops rival is WKU and that's going away apparently. I do wonder if the ADs could have better communicated with each other. Everyone was so busy doing what's "best" for their school that they weren't able to do what's best for both the school AND its membership. And that would have been better.

RE: oops from Marshall's AD
Had CUSA 2.0 stayed together the Big East would have collapsed... The same thing could be said of the SBC regarding CUSA expansion. Not a single team has turned down a CUSA invite though just like none of our teams have turned down an invite to play in the nBE.

Memphis would rather play basketball with Cincy, UCONN or Temple rather than the bottom of CUSA like SMU... oh wait... Yeah we give them hell for that on the CUSA board. ECU, Houston, UCF would rather play Cincy than play the bottom of CUSA as in Memphis or Tulane...

WKU will move into CUSA. They probably just have to discuss it with their Board of Trustees (Regents, Directors or whatever they call it) That is probably the reason for the holdup.

Yet not a single SBC team has turned down an invite to C-USA.

What does that make the Sun Belt? A coral reef?

Southern Miss posters mainly say they do not want to be in C-USA, so why don't you change over to the dark side and it would ensure that the Sun Belt is better than C-USA for years.

Why would we leave C-USA for the SBC?

I want out of C-USA as bad as anyone, but only to something like the Big XII or Aresco League (maybe). The SBC offers USM nothing, besides we can bring any Sun Belt team we please to us instead of going to them.

Ever SBC school offered has accepted so far, and everyone left would accept if offered this week (despite the claims of some on this board).

Just like every CUSA school would leave for tbd. Not because we want to go but because of fear. If I don't take the offer someone else will and CUSA will get worse.

Word in certain circles is USM is facing some serious financial issues and the departure of long time CUSA rivals isn't help the situation. How can USM fans think they are attractive to the Big XII after being passed over by the BE?

After going 0-12 last year, USM needs to focus on winning a game, even if it is against a FCS team.

What is a shame is all the money that is being thrown around in exit fees and entrance fees just to ultimately end up with the same neighbors you had before with a different conference name.

You guys won't pay an exit fee and we'll make ours up in increased revenue before too long.

In general, A **** load of money has been tossed around. I believe the entrance fee for C-USA is $2,000,000. $500K due in 30 days.

"Amature" hour. Good one!

When I think of amateur hour, I think of something like this:

in the world of b-ball there is no comparison at this time.....football flux and right now the Belt may well be on equal if not better footing but even that is in flux.

USM has no rivals, the casual fan cares as much about Tulame or Houston as they do MTSU or whichever FXU twin is in town.

I never said USM was on the Big XII's list, only that it is the most attractive conference left for us (aside from having to deal with UT).
