FOR THE LOVE OF TROY!
Eh, just some payback for beating us in 1992 .... our homecoming game, you are D2 then, and beat us 21-0.
Still, in my opinion, our worst home skunking since we restarted football.
As for 1995, we merely saved you the embarrassment of getting throttled by a very good Montana Grizzly team. We were abused. IMO, that was our worst I-AA performance EVER.
Will be glad to see the Troy band make the trip again. Great band.
I remember one year playing Montana in the playoffs we jumped out to an early 7-0 lead.
Then went on to lose 77-7.
I remember watching that game on tv. It was freezing and our boys couldn't handle that kind of cold at all. Troy was doomed before the game even kicked off.

Tone it down there a little ol' B-Mark. Don't get too excited.

So you traveled to 3 SBC games ...UNT and the FU's.
Like I said fair weather fan. Need to be some other reason other than seeing Troy play or you don't go. Like a acc, sec, big12/10 school playing. From the looks of the places on your list your trips happens....
when Troy is winning because most of those couldn't have took place with in the last 3 seasons. Why not any current road trips during the down years...
Fair Weather Fan.

Bmarkey...he's trolling you. Stop letting him.
The fact is, nobody actually really travels well in the Sunbelt to other Sunbelt opponents. Some travel better than others, but nobody should be chest thumping or calling anyone fair weather fans.

BMarkey BTW i could careless if you go to 1 or 100 road games I'm just messing with you. We all have reasons for or not traveling and most of the time being a ..fan.. isn't the top reason either way. Most of the time it's, Time and Money. I am just pushing a button that you showed

RE: How well do SBC teams travel?
The truth is that our fan bases, with a few exceptions, are not excited to come to our venues. Many of them are difficult and expensive (airfare wise) to reach. We would rather go and cheer at a BCS challenge. I see that changing, if the Sun Belt survives, as we focus more on conference titles and bowl game eligibility. Plus, playing at the bog boys' venues is not nearly as big or exciting as it once was. 'Been there, done that.

RE: How well do SBC teams travel?
does anyone know how well the middle fans travelled to Louieville to witness the annual stomping of their women's team in the ncaa.
or were all the tickets sold out like it was for the men. (still laughing over that excuse)

RE: How well do SBC teams travel?
Troy will always travel well to UAB (They give away tickets in Birmingham) and SoBama, because there are a lot of Troy graduates in those areas. BMarkey did hit on something though, because we will take 2000 to Tennessee, and 400 or less to WKU or Monroe. I know people that never attend a Troy game all year and then you see them in New Orleans at the bowl game. Obviously losing will hurt travel, but even when things were good our fans seemed to always choose that "big" game over conference games. I personally prefer conference games over any other, but I'm pretty sure exception and not the rule. I'm looking forward to trips to Texas St, App St, Ga St, and Ga Southern in next few seasons.

You sure are all about Middle today. To answer your question though I have no idea on the total but I know the BRAA had a bus trip planned.

RE: How well do SBC teams travel?
Most of the GS fan base travels out of the Atlanta Metro area. I've done a quick scout of the Sunbelt East Teams and found the following travel times for the largest portion of EagleNation:
To GSU-5 minutes
To Troy-- 3 hours[/code]
To USA--5 hours
to AppState--5 hours
Looks like we may still be the best traveling fan base in the conference.
but if JMU is added to the mix, that will be an 8 hour trip.

Admittedly, GaSouthern travelled well to San Marcos in 2005 but, it was a playoff game. How many make that 1000 mile trip for a regular season game?

I couldn't say for sure, but I think y'all may be surprised at how many GS fans show up on Game Saturdays in the fall.
