RE: Tulsa officially moves next week?
In all honesty, I don't quite get this move for Tulsa. Nothing about it(location, money, prestige, etc.) really makes a ton of sense. I'm not sure what UAB would do if it received the same offer, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be just jump before the words were out of their mouth anymore. The stability of the conference is still in question, and it will be very watered down if/when any combination of UConn, Cincy, USF, Navy, Temple exit.

At this point, I believe there are some buyers, who regret the purchase, and want to make a return...but the Presidents who made the decisions to buy, can never say, they were wrong.

I believe it's just a question of wanting to remain at their current level of competition.

Tulsa wanted to remain at its current level of competition....You are kidding right... Its about perceived prestige and money...but in Tulsa case, it makes as much sense as Boise moving to the Big East...
MWC, and Tulsa I could see, but not the Big East...
The schools that are leaving are being pimped... for lack of a better comparison... they are loving something that don't/cannot love them back, the UNKNOWN conference is using them to get what they... while pretending they are giving something of value...on another level, its like an all day lollipop, they are suckers...

MWC isn't expanding. The BE is essentially CUSA. CUSA is becoming the SunBelt. So, playing in the BE is like playing in CUSA while playing in CUSA will be like playing in the SunBelt. They also want to maintain ties with private schools Tulane and SMU. Also, BE perception is greater than the others...

Agree with all of that. I would rather keep playing C-USA teams in the unnamed conference than playing Sun Belt and FCS upstart teams in C-USA. No offense to any of the newcomers.

MB, and a few others, are not going to like the comments above.
Until we get out from under the UA BOT, it's not looking good.

I would rather play ODU, Charotte and WKU than Rice, SMU and ECU
I knew that insult was coming. KenPom gave it a 99.99% probability of occurrence.
I do agree with your statement regarding Rice, SMU, and ECU.

You are only looking at basketball and you are cherry-picking teams.
Even if you look at just basketball, would you rather play Memphis, Tulsa, and UCF (the best defectors) or ODU, Charlotte, and Western Kentucky? I'd prefer the former.

I also agree with ODU and Charlotte (Rice is still in CUSA, BTW). I like most of the new additions, but the point is they are still considered SB teams and UAB, Marshall, Rice, and UTEP are considered the "left behinds" who were relegated to the SunBelt. The perception is the real problem. It can be overcome but not quickly. Basketball is gonna be pretty good, probably, overall, better than old CUSA.

And I'd prefer the latter. We can't beat Memphis, Tulsa is not the Tulsa of yesteryear, and UCF is a pretender.
We have history with the other three.

Totally agree. LaTech and MTSU should continue to be good, as well.

East Carolina is now an all-sports member of the used-to-be-Big East, in case anyone missed that memo last night. I guess Tulsa is to be that 12th team for football?

Ok Western, have to call a foul here....If the Sunbelt teams joining CUSA are still considered Sun Belt even when they move into CUSA, then the CUSA teams moving to the Big East or the unknown conference have to be considered CUSA teams...and if that is the case, then most of the movements from the SunBelt/CUSA at best are lateral moves...I will take the new basketball and football teams over the new UNKNOWN/CUSA/BIG EAST.
I expect within 2-5 years, The original CUSA will improve as a conference while the UKNOWN CONFERENCE will implode... Change the expectation to 1-2 years when Cincy and UCONN leaves, those two programs appear to be destine for ACC....

Whether anybody else cares to admit it or not, this could not be more true.
Basketball wise, I am pleased with the new conference. We lose Memphis, but we also lose some crap. We gain some good teams, although we lose that one great one.

The point is that the SunBelt teams are good teams and while still considered SB teams are moving to a better league. The teams leaving CUSA are considered to be leaving for a better league. Better league = better competition. Being left behind is like being demoted.
I think the ACC is in as much danger as the new Big East of not being around in a few years. If they are raided by SEC, B10, & B12 what's left and what they could get as replacements will not warrant the ACC being a power league. The other power leagues will see to that. They will lose Notre Dame, as well. The will either cease to exist or fall back to turn the group of 5 into the group of 6.

RE: Tulsa officially moves next week?
Agreed, mostly, however the names means nothing and its only perception, the average fan is more knowledgeable and they know difference/look of what is a shadow of ts former self .. Its the advertising dollars that are driving the train, however the product being former CUSA teams doesnt change the network/FAN/media interests... there are not as many dollars for advertising for a water down unknown conference...so there isnt alot of diffence in payouts..
CUSA, can compete for BCS football dollars as well as the UKNOWN conference...so it makes no sense and may cost the defectors much more...
