The Rivalry
I'm enjoying the discussion about App and GaSo as two new members. Both great schools with great traditions joining a great conference. But I think it's time for us to introduce The Rivalry. Though there's no trophy for this game, but it is circled on each team's schedule every year. When the Eagles play at The Rock, it is called "Black Saturday." The Stink vs the Goat Humpers. It is a very lively affair.

App leads the series 14-11-1

Here's the head-to-head stats.: http://cfreference.net/cfr/all-time-head...thern/1321

Please share video, stories, ect.

Here's our highlight of last year's meeting in Stinkboro followed by several other highlights.

Western isn't the only school that does that?

I remember seeing a really good video in the 2011 game at Boone played on the big screen. It was a really good , surprisingly neutral, timeline of the rivalry. Do you know where that is?

I'm sure MTSU isn't the only school that has roommates shanking each other.

The difference? That actually happened at MTSU.

What, you don't like the video that shows App destroying us, only to see they are down 24-28 after 2 minutes of the video? 04-chairshot

(Yes I know all highlight reels are like that. It's still funny at times)

There's no doubt there is an intense rivalry between you guys. Calling it THE rivalry may be a bit much even though it is for you guys. The way I see it, GaSo is gonna have the dilemna as to who is their greatest rival...App St. or GaSt. Obviously the history is there that many from GaSo will consider App St. their rival. Will that change over time? Not if GaSt isn't competitive with GaSo in football.

The way I see the rivalries:

Troy: USA with GaSo being the secondary rival
USA: Troy with Louisiana being the secondary rival
GaSt: GaSo. Not sure of a secondary rival.
GaSo: App St. with GaSt being the secondary rival but this could change
App St: GaSo. You guys love to hate them.
ULM: Louisiana
Louisiana: Who is your greatest rival? ULM? stAte? USA?
stAte: Not sure who you consider your greatest rival either. La? WKU?
WKU: Obviously MTSU. Hate that conference realignment messed that up
Texas State: Would it be UTSA?
UTA: Bueller? Bueller?
UALR: Obviously stAte I would think

These are of course just my personal observations. If I'm wrong, feel free to chime in who you love to hate the most.

I didn't put THE in all caps to emphasize it, you did. I called it The Rivalry (proper) because that's what I've called it since 2007, when I was a freshman at App State.

I'd say UTSA for us. We don't really have one. They were for non football sports but only played them once in football so hard to call a "rival". But the trash talked reminds me of App St and GS now. I miss having that.

Hopefully something meanful comes between us and stAte and/or UL.

Rivalries change over times. In 2003 if you would have asked who our biggest rival was, hands down our fans would have said Furman. Over the past decade our games with them have become very bland and one sided, while our games with App have been down to the wire, 3OT, #1 is upset on the road followed by returning the favor the next year, type of games.

I'm not saying that couldn't happen with GaSt, but their team has a long way to go before I see that happening. Maybe their new coach will turn things around quickly and we can make something out of it.

Personally that first game in the dome is going to be rough for them. Eagle Nation will be in the dome in full force. I can promise you that.

But I think it's time for us to introduce The Rivalry. Though there's no trophy for this game, but it is circled on each team's schedule every year. When the Eagles play at The Rock, it is called "Black Saturday." The Stink vs the Goat Humpers. It is a very lively affair.

App leads the series 14-11-1

Here's the head-to-head stats.: http://cfreference.net/cfr/all-time-head...thern/1321

Chill dude. You're always on edge it seems. It's words on a message board. Sometimes people can interpret things different than you may mean.

Ha. I promise I wrote that response as light heartedly as you wrote your original post. Just explaining and making sure you didn't think I was being arrogant. 04-cheers

Oh, no way did I think you were being arrogant. Glad we're on the same page. 04-cheers

Here's our highlight of last year's meeting in Stinkboro followed by several other highlights.

Western isn't the only school that does that?

I'm sure MTSU isn't the only school that has roommates shanking each other.

The difference? That actually happened at MTSU.

So you're saying Western is the true one because it actually happened in Bowling Green? I'll agree with you that y'all are the true goat humpers

Your reading comprehension is lacking. You may wanna work on that.

I understood just fine, just like I understood the news paper article I read about a goat being found on the Western Kentucky campus with a damaged rectum and naked men hiding in a closet in the same room. I'm pretty sure there were condoms around so it sounds like they were safe at least.

I'd love to have a copy of that video.
