FWIW, a poster on AGS is claiming his source is telling him that JMU will be the 3rd SBC team. Just doing my part to spread another internet rumor.

3 terrible basketball adds? Let's just drop the sport if we don't care about it. NMSU or bust.

RE: George Mason going to A10
If you look at the Sun Belt football footprint (sorry hoopers I didn't run the numbers), JMU is closer than NMSU for every member except Texas State and Louisiana and the gap for UL is I think less than 100 miles.

This thread has already pointed out a point I made to a friend a few weeks ago when we were talking JMU v. NMSU.

I said that the average fan will assume the following is true.
1. NMSU is closer for at least half the league if not more.
2. NMSU brings better football than JMU
3. JMU brings better basketball than NMSU.

But all three assumptions are false.

I ran the miles data a while back on this scenario and JMU was closer to more SBC schools than NMSU was. Pertaining to numbers 2 and 3, you can reverse them. JMU is better football, NMSU is historically better basketball. Don't forget our conference championship and round of 64 appearance this year.

I think you missed the part about them being assumptions the average fan would make...

Thus the text in bold.

Yes but would western Belt presidents really vote for JMU over NMSU. Before the App and GSU add I would say it would be hard, but after adding two eastern members I have to wonder.

Selfishly JMU would be a great add. You basically getting a carbon copy of App in the state of Virginia.

Future CAA

Towson, W&M, JMU, Drexel (if not poached by the A-10), Hoftra (if not poached by the A-10), Northeastern (if not poached by the A-10), UNCW, and Delaware.

Of course, they could add teams, but are there's aren't any equivalent replacements for the teams that are leaving. Especially in basketball.

CAA is going to end up going to war with the Southern and Big South Conferences here soon.

You nailed it. CoC already left the SoCon for the CAA...Elon & Davidson are on the radar. Maybe Coastal, too...Liberty (hope not).

RE: George Mason going to A10
welp, that AGS poster ended up being wrong. I'm sure jmu was in the discussion, yet our administration fails us time and time again. They have their eye on the MAC or higher... or just staying in FCS. They have no real desire to join the sbc at any point.
