UT Arlington Mavericks Basketball: The Future is Bright

Can't wait to join the SBC - in hopes we can contribute to the league's basketball (and baseball) future, if not eventually in FB, too.

I always expected you guys to start up football. It would make no sense otherwise for UTA to join 2 football focused conferences in a row if they have no plans for football.

That's been my hope all along - but who knows if it will ever happen. Have to wait and see what the new President thinks about the idea. He wants us to be a Tier 1 research institution; I for one believe it might help us reach that goal a bit sooner if we restore our football program.

Makes no difference if our students never get interested in supporting athletics; they really missed out on an opportunity to give the Mavericks a strong home-court advantage during the first full season in the new College Park Center.

You can do BOTH! Understand that the DFW Metroplex is saturated with athletic programs, as well as other forms of entertainment that you'd have to compete with from an entertainment dollar standpoint, still, would love it if UTA added football at somepoint, on a sidenote . . am very impressed with the changes/improvements to your campus the past few years . . you've made great strides and the future does indeed look bright . . . 04-cheers

Thanks, Bobcat87. The future is also bright for Texas State, all across the board...not just athletics. I am glad your university was elevated by the state to "emerging research" status, because Texas State deserves it.

Runamuck, I'll be sending in my Maverick Club dues very soon.

I saw that softball facility plan, too, and it is FIRST CLASS. I hope that comes to fruition over the next couple of years.

Is the 7'0 center as good as NMSU's 7'5 Sim Bhullar?

Is the 7'0 center as good as NMSU's 7'5 Sim Bhullar?

he's about half the size of Bhullar...just kidding..maybe 230...but moves around more..when the ags played us on our court Bhullar seemed a little slow and he wasnt allowed as many hip checks as he was the next cpl. times we played so he wasnt a big factor..I was pulling for the ags in the tournament..I hear Bhullar has a brother that is big too..
