Oklahoma wants to join the MAC!

For Men's Wrestling.

With Missouri, University of Northern Iowa and Old Dominion University joining the MAC for wrestling in 2013

http://www.mac-sports.com/News/tabid/969...tling.aspx

and Missouri's leaving the Big 12 causing that conference to have only 4 wrestling programs; OU's wrestling HC Mark Cody wants his program and the other 3 Big 12 to join the MAC and what a lineup of programs that would be

Old Dominion
Ohio
Buffalo,
Eastern Michigan
Central Michigan
Kent State
NIU
UNI
Missouri
Iowa State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
West Virginia

What is also interesting about this possibility is a team that has left the Big 12 competing again against former conference mates (Iowa St, OU, OSU) who would be desolving their conference' s participation in a sport to join a new conference that their former member recently joined.

If this came to pass it would also make West Virginia a MAC affiliate member in 2 sports Men's Soccer & Wrestling.

Realignment wrestling style.

The Big 12 should have just swallowed their pride and let Missouri stay as affiliate members. Interesting story though.

Nah, besides the MAC already had some good wrestling teams in it so it is not a scrub league when it comes to wrestling.

You're saying that ODU (my school) would be in the same conference as OSU (My parents school)? That'd be awesome.

And it wouldn't be a bad conference either.

Yes it would allow a tournament that was not just 3 teams and would be probably be the 2nd best wrestling conference in the country most years.

RE: Oklahoma wants to join the MAC!
It's all part of a subversive MAC plot to hook WVA, Oklahoma, OK St. Mizzou and ODU on the MAC. Get one bite of the MAC in one sport and you'll add more sports as affiliate members, finally

Ahhhh

Full MAC membership!

WVA offers just 6 men's ncaa sports, moving wrestling would put 2 of those in the MAC.
