MAC Tournament Final on ESPN2 right now with 13,500 in the stands.

Last night Ohio vs Western Michigan drew 10,301.

The CAA championship only drew 6,000 fans, C-USA (and most of the future America 12 teams [ our football championship also had better attendance then theirs] ) drew 7,000 fans for their title game. A rivalry Atlantic-10 matchup between UMass and Temple drew only 7,000 last night. Ohio vs WMU beat them all in a semi-final matchup.

I made that point in another thread. CUSA had to play its game early morning with hardly anyone in the stands and practically nobody watching on TV.

The MAC Championship looks good and isn't played before lunch.

I have to admit, the Big America Metro Conference looks weak, is weak and only going to get weaker IMO.

The MWC is shaping up to be the best of the rest conference with the MAC challenging them. The Big Metro is one ACC move from total annihilation.

Congrats on the attendance championship! The MAC's prize - one bid ... Same as every year this century.

MAC isn't flashy and doesnt get a lot of attention but it is steady and reliable in its home region

Its crazy how geographically sensible conferences with centrally located conference tournaments draw well

They do sponsor basketball. Their best member in recent years, Ohio University, has been to three NCAA tournaments since 2005. During those three appearances, they made it to the Round of 32 twice, and the Sweet Sixteen once.

I hope we don't see a huge drop without CU next year.

I was obviously being sarcastic. That said, of course they have good attendance. Their tournament is in Cleveland an no one has more than a 4 hour drive.

I wouldnt expect it to drop too much unless the title game was Drake v Evansville.

Not so sure, Creighton brought 6-8K of that number so unless someone other than Wichita does really well next year and brings a few thousand, that number will definitely drop a good amount.
