Conference Tournament REALITY
Last year the Sun Belt Tournament averaged 4,027 per game. Sun Belt regular season games averaged 3,258, so the tournament averaged 124% of regular season average attendance.

How's that stack up to the top 16 leagues in attendance?
Last year:
Colonial 225%
CUSA: 200%
ACC 198%
Big East: 184%
MVC: 176%
Big XII 172%
MWC 162%
Big 10: 140%
Pac-12: 125%
SEC 125%
Sun Belt: 124%
WCC: 104%
A10: 94%
MAC: 89%
Horizon: 89%
WAC: 38%

As a percentage of average season attendance, the Sun Belt is performing as well as the SEC or Pac-12, we just don't draw the numbers of regular season fans they do.

Location is less important than having fan bases if you want a big crowd.

I don't for a second believe that we averaged 4K for tournament games.

If anybody believes that arena was 2/3 full I have a bridge to sell you. Adding up the games would barely get you north of 4k. Average 4k? Bernie Madoff must have been keeping the stats.

yes- they are probably counting tickets sold..that's why I dont care for having these tournaments in a city where there is no interest in any of the teams playing. the slc has been having their tournament in katy texas and literelly no one shows up...not much excitement for the teams playing.

Agreed. Arena seemed empty for nearly the entire tournament.

Are you serious? THey must count attend. based on MTSU numbers...No way an AVERAGE could be close to 4k sold tickets or not sold tickets..I do not believe that for a second....When I see box scores from tournament, most games attend is listed as NA...That tells you they are hiding the real attend. numbers....

RE: Conference Tournament REALITY
What some of you are not understanding...

games are going on on TWO COURTS so I would think in that case the attendance would be combined then a total.

The top bowl was never even close to being full but I would say the arena was more than half full in the semi's
The qts the small gym was 4/5 full for the UALR/FIU game 2/3 for the WKU/USA and the main gym maybe 1/4 for the muts/ULL game and maybe the lower bowl was 2/4 full for the Ark St / Troy game

During the 1st and 2nd round you have quite a few fans that goes between the 2 courts watching parts of each.

But if the tourney had been held in Nashville I think the qters and Semi's would had 12,000 plus and the championship...8,000

RE: Conference Tournament REALITY
Numbers are from last year and the crowds were better last year.

Arkansas State played Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. UALR and MTSU played Sunday. WKU played Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

Of the 10 games played, only three didn't feature one of the four teams that bring the most fans. There was also one fewer game because ULM was on post-season ban, so there was no 5/12 match-up between UNT and ULM.

So everyone else's counts are legit but not the Sun Belt's. I can only work with the data folks send the NCAA.
