A word on Pickren at DE.

I thought signing that transfer TE was an indicator he was moving back to D. Alls I know is I watched him at Pell City play Clay-Chalkville two years ago and the best team in the state could not keep him out of their backfield.

He was as quick off the ball as any high school end I've ever seen and has two speeds: wide open and stop.

I can't help but think of this as anything but good news.

Not counting Lester, who left before last season, and Walton, who is still listed, there were 18 or so gone from the roster.

7 from his first recruiting class seems like a big number to leave. Is it possible for some of these guys to be back in the fall after getting grades together?

It looks to me that all Ht and Wt numbers are from last year. When will we get updated stats on that?

Baumhower dressed for home games last year but never played as far as I knew. I always assumed he was a walk-on who just wanted to play.

If the list of missing players is correct, are there any that will be a problem to replace?

I'm disapointed to see Devon Gordon and Nyck Young missing from the roster. I thougth they were two of the better players, with regard to long term potential, from the first signing class. If they really move Jay Davis to safety, we may be a bit thin at WR this year - particularly those with experience in this offense. Of course the Humphrey kid should be a big bonus at WR, if he comes in with his head on straight.

We should also have a healthy DJ Vinson and Nolan Smith back, as well. Granted, they haven't played in this offense, but they've been around it for a year now.

At WR he had eight guys with scholarships and three didn't play. The nine guy this year could be M Reaves. Losing these eleven guys could keep some of the non-scholarship guys around that actually played this past season.

Add M Reaves and maybe Noreiga who is a LS and we fill the back end of our 85. Maybe this is how we got M. Miller to stay or we give the invited walkon OL J. Winston a shot since we lost two OLinemen.

I think Mullins aearned a scholarship at the end of last season. I remember someone mentioning it on twitter.

Looking at the bios on the website for that list, there are 3 of them that actually have their class status updated to RS Freshman. Maybe those 3 are just sitting spring out?

I think Slaughter and Mullens both earned one. I was just making a point that losing some of the guys we lost could benefit other walk-ons who played last year.

Perry seems to be way into being a Blazer judging by his Twitter feed. I don't see him transferring, and I don't think Austin is a lock on the starting job either.

Of course, Nick Mullens had a very positive Twitter profile as well, and man did he ever switch to SMTTT in a hurry.

Nyck Young headed to a college in SoCal for a year... planning to return.
