OT: College Stadium Nicknames
I made a quiz on Sporcle of some of the more well known stadium nicknames. I avoided nicknames that are just shortened versions of the stadium's actual name. You don't have to name them in order.

http://www.sporcle.com/games/OrangeCrush...-nicknames

Feel free to tell me if there are any errors, or if you have any suggestions. 04-cheers

Got em all!

Took me a minute to get "Grand Old Lady", never heard it called that before.

And not trying to nitpick but Kyle Field would correctly be called "Home of the 12th Man" ("12th Man" is an official trademark owned by A&M)

I thought that Legion Field in Birmigham was called 'the grand old lady'. Also it is a bit of a stretch IMO is say that Neyland Stadium is nicknamed Rocky Top. If anything it would refermore to the region the campus is located in much like 'Happy Valley' or the Plains for Auburn or the Flats for GT.

Yeah, I wasn't exactly sure which form to use. They seem to be used pretty interchangeably, I'll change it though if it's officially trademarked. 04-cheers

I was just going by the Wikipedia page for Neyland Stadium. For its source it links to a fan article. I wasn't too picky about using nicknames endorsed by the school, but used by fans.

I thought that Legion Field in Birmigham was called 'the grand old lady'.

...technically, it's the 'Old Gray Lady', and even that is a pretty recent moniker - within the last few decades - as the place was forest green and white (standard City of Birmingham Parks and Rec Board color scheme) up until around the turn of the century... honestly, it WAS a pretty cool stadium in its heyday, but it is way beyond renovation, and is basically rotting away...

...BTW, Blazers have other 'pet names' for the place, which most likely can't be repeated here...03-lmfao

I have heard people refer to the Superdome as "the Mausoleum" when Tulane plays there.

...I actually thought it was pretty cool there (I've been to two UAB-Tulane games there...we split 1-1) ...of course, we're in the same boat in that we have a 'dedicated core' fan base which is MORE than accommodated by the current stadium size... 03-lmfao ...at least Y'ALL are getting to upgrade to an OCS soon (congrats on that, BTW...hopefully we'll have a home and home with y'all, wherever everyone ends up conference-wise...) ...I think we're getting one of those OCS jobbers, eventually... of course, by the time the good ol' UABOT gives in, it will cost twice as much as it would now... DON'T get me started...03-pissed03-hissyfit03-puke04-chairshot

Nothing -- absolutely nothing else in the 25 years I have paid attention to Tulane athletics -- has given me more hope for the future of Tulane athletics than the OCS.

I am all in favor of that. Football, baseball, basketball, and anything else.

With all the ways the BOT has shafted UAB athletics through the years, I am honestly surprised there hasn't been some sort of "incident", if you get my drift. Some people can accept injustice with equanimity and some people... cannot.
