RE: Falling Skies
Season three premiere is Sunday. They are billing this season as more of a season long mystery that we discover in the first episode, and solve in episodes 8 or 9.

Here is what has been revealed:

7 months have passed since Alien species #2 decided to pay Earth a visit during the final episode of season 2. That species is known as "The Volm" and they have a dispatched an emissary named Cochiese who will deal with the people of Charleston. Considering previews show the Volm and the 2nd mass fighting together...we're guessing they are friendly...for now.

Tom has been elected "President of the New United States" which is really an underground mall in Charleston. Anne is 9 months pregnant and about to pop. But is everything right with the baby?

While the group has had successes in battles with the skitters, the skitters seem to always know what the next move will be. Weaver believes there is a mole in the 2nd mass.

Speaking of fun, Karen is pretty much full alien now, and has really taken over the lead villain of the series. They have a new grey fish head thingy as alien leader, but Karen is now making autonomous decisions to cause unspeakable horror herself. They are really pushing the super hot villain theme.

Hal has an eye bug (a gift from Karen) and is now paralyzed. Everyone thinks he is the mole...he thinks he is the mole. Maggie now lives with him, and is his primary caregiver. He and his father have almost stopped all communication. Ben is still part skitter with all sorts of cool abilities, and Matt still thinks he's a soldier.

TNT is expect to announce the show has been renewed for a fourth season within a week or so. They have already hired a new writer and producer. Noah Wyle has dropped hints that they plan on the show lasting 5 seasons.

I am recording the season premiere to watch late Sunday Night, though I am hopeful TNT will just replay the episodes at 10 and 11, so I don't have to worry about that.

Seems like a long time in coming. At least it sounds like we do not have to worry about it being cancelled out from under
us like happens with too many sci fi programs.

Episode 2:

1. So...that's how Charleston gets its power.
2. Good question Ben...why do the Esphanti need to use our fuel to fire up the Mech's?
3. We now know what those structures were for...keeping the Volm from coming.
4. One week in and Tom's baby can crawl and talk...whats next? Crawling up walls?

RE: Falling Skies
This whole Eshanti vs Volm dynamic is really curious. The two of them are basically fighting each other...but what will the winner do with the Humans? This is being billed as "to the victor, goes the planet"

Karen is now the evil overlord. She really is good at this whole "evil" thing, almost like she has been doing it her whole life.

Thought the two hour premiere was good. Didn't like all that time going by and we just have to catch up on whatever has happened instead of it happening within the series. I probably would have done the production differently. You say Karen is evil, wouldn't doubt things flipping later and she becoming their planet savior. We just don't know enough about the aliens to make much of a decision.

RE: Falling Skies
Perhaps I missed something, but didn't they just spring the whole "Hal can't walk" thing on everyone? I don't remember him not being able to walk at the end of last season.

To me, that little bit seemed... off. He was walking at the end of last season, then "hey, new season. Hal can't walk, but it's cool cause in like 30 minutes we'll tell you it's just a mental thing for him!".

If the Volm have been fighting the aliens (eshanti or whatever) on other planets, wouldn't the rebel skitters have some insight into them? And with their obvious advanced technology, why are they holding back so much? Only a few have these new guns (evidenced by Pope saying he had to get one of those), and some intel seems like they aren't trying to beat the eshanti, just bide some time for something else... something... nefarious.

RE: Falling Skies
Its very clear the Rebel skitters and Volm do not trust each other. There are thousands of Volm Troop ships on their way to earth, but the Skitter defense grid will not let them in. Mason believes those troops are to help the humans, the rebel skitters do not.

Im not saying she is evil, it was announced that she is the new Skitter overlord...

Also, the producers have said that she is essentially no longer human at this point in her mind.

Pope did mention the alien gun thing, and it is important to note that Manchester was killed by the mole, who was using an Alien gun.

I thought they pretty much said that the mole was Hal... Never accused him or anything, but found out he was sleepwalking/banging his ex who is now the overlord...

RE: Falling Skies
I'm starting to think that the "twist" this season will be that everything will be as it seems... The Volm will actually be good guys that go around liberating worlds from the Overlords, Karen will be a permanent enemy, and the rebel skitters truely are loyal to the human cause but are just being careful. The only thing I'm questioning is Tom's new baby - something is up with that baby. She's more than just "advanced" for her age. Man that was spooky when that 1 week old crawled under the bed and said "mama" and freakin smiled! If I ever saw some mess like that, I'd run!

Didn't he knock up the doc AFTER he had that worm thing in his eye?

This could be a human skitter hybrid kid who will end up being the "savior"... Similar to the V tv series (the original, not the crap they remade).

I think we are being lead to believe that, but the way producers are billing this season is that the mystery is who is the mole, and they want the viewers to solve it, using the clues they are given.

The thing we know with Hal is that the reason he is paralyzed is because he is fighting Karen's probe...The mole needs incentive to work for the enemy. Hal doesn't have incentive.

No, she is Overlord of the entire Skitter army on the North American continent.
