Where are those three schools going? Unless CUSA comes calling, there isn't anywhere left to go. My guess is that cooler heads will prevail and in the end, and all three will realize they need the SBC to remain a viable conference. At least they need it to until CUSA calls them.
Packaged together, ASU and ULL could be an intriguing option for a league that is interested in bringing states, but not markets into the fold.
He needs no explanation, trust me.... plus, as usual, he knows only half of what he thinks he does

Speaking of dead, how much so for Georgia State's attendance numbers last year. Sure would help if they had a new conference partner to stir up the local interest. Someone who they already openly despise. Someone who travels well. Someone with droves of alumni in Atlanta. Wonder who that could be ? ? ?

I fly out of NE Alabama. But do go to PDK all the time, like every other pilot in the SE.

I fly a Hawker 800A. For those that don't know, it's a midsize corp jet. Capable of going coast to coast nonstop.

17,000 additional seats sold and the local interest nonpartisans as well that game could easily top 40,000 conservatively. I had hoped when you guys took up football, we'd get something going. Still have the fingers crossed !

Please no more GaSt Ga Southern smack. Go to the smack talk section and there is a thread specifically dedicated to this.

I'm the same way. It doesn't matter what size, or if they're military jets, 747s or crop dusters.

RE: this conference is dead
If schools could just put their egos aside and align with like schools in regional conferences this whole airport thing would be a non issue. It's nuts for a school in Idaho to be in a conference with those in New Mexico, Louisiana, Alabama and Georgia. It also crazy for schools in Texas and Louisiana to travel to Georgia and North Carolina just to play a baseball game or tennis match. Please don't get me wrong here. I want App in the Sun Belt because under current conditions is the best opportunity for our school to align with others that are more like us. But it's crazy when you look how close App, Charlotte, Ga So, Ga State, JMU, MTSU, ODU and WKU are to one another (about a 300 mile radius as the crow flies of Charlotte), but because of ego won't do the sensible thing. The same goes for Ark State, FAU, FIU, La Tech, N Texas, ULL, ULL, USA, UAB and Troy in relationship to one another. You would think these Presidents would get together and find common ground that would make everyone happy and save themselves A LOT of money they don't have.

I'm with you dude. Before Hartsfield was expanded I attended a convention at the Sheraton which was demolished for the new runway. I was in an upper floor room looking down the runway and sat there for long periods watching those planes come and go. It was amazing. Guess my little kid fascination with planes never left me.

The company I worked for bought one of those once. Of course, it happened to be this one:

That would explain why your name/picture is in honor of WW-2's most ferocious fighter pilot.

i have to confess....
i find atc/pilot smack more amusing than tuba player smack.
personal tidbit: i've flown in all manner of crafts from ch46/53s to standard airline jets to a freakin' dc3 from san pedro sula to roatan. nice seats in that one.
i don't really love to fly anymore but when i do i prefer the embraerjets. better likelihood of me getting an aisle seat and usually a direct flight.

There is a hotel extremely close to one of the runways at Atlanta. The Renaissance Hotel has some of the best planespotting I've experienced. I highly recommend it if you enjoy planespotting.

Work across the street. You're right, its a great view from this side of the airport. The new International Terminal was also very specially designed with maximum views. Ansolutely breathtaaking views.
