Everyone keeps mentioning or alluding to the notion that this league is down to 4 teams: Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Troy, and Louisiana-Monroe. I'm getting sick and tired of people saying that these four teams are the 'core' of the conference. I'm tired of people acting like these 4 teams are the complete class of the Sun Belt. You are forgetting there are other members in this conference. The attitude some people on this board has towards the other conference members is the same attitude you like to complain about fans of C-USA teams having towards you. Get over yourself. There are more teams in this league.

As a member of the Sun Belt since day one South Alabama deserves more respect than anyone here is giving them. So our football is new. Big friggin' deal. We are still a charter member of this conference and want nothing more than our conference to succeed and be the best it can be.

We've done our part in baseball by having the best all-time baseball history of any team in the league or anyone entering or exiting the league. We started in 1965 and have already been to 24 regionals. Sounds pretty successful to me.

According to ESPN we have the second best basketball history of anyone in the league or anyone entering or exiting the league (WKU being #1). So we typically do our part in basketball too.

Our other olympic sports are fairly decent. Our volleyball and women's soccer haven't been up to par lately though. Tennis at USA is always strong and I believe at one time we had a string of championships in tennis that surpassed a decade.

I just don't get how USA can be the most successful team in the league all-time in baseball and basketball (if WKU leaves) but get treated like we're a nobody just because our football program is new. Regardless of our short football history, I'm confident USA will be a winning program soon. We don't have a history of doing anything halfway in our other sports. We have put in incredible infrastructure to be successful. Some people need to realize it's not all about 4 schools. It's about all the schools in the league. We need everyone to be successful. I know USA has to prove itself, just like Georgia State and Texas State (and Texas-Arlington and UALR in basketball). But I am confident that USA will prove itself.

Loved every part of this until you said UALR has to prove itself in basketball. We've done pretty well, I'd say, and look to get even better in the coming years.

Why are we lumped with ASU in basketball? I'd say over the past 15 years we've separated ourselves from them pretty well. We hold our own and don't take hind teat to the woofs.

USA
UAB
WKU
ODU
VCU
UNCC

Missing in action: USF, Jacksonville

vcu would need to add football but i would love that.

I didn't mean that part the way you took it. I thought about how to word that part and it took me a while. If you go look at the "Kickout UALR" thread I put in that thread what I originally included in my above post but removed it so I wouldn't appear to be neglecting Georgia State, Texas State or UT-Arlington. It mentions to the fact that UALR does its part in basketball. I didn't mean UALR must prove itself as if they haven't already, but that without football you will have to continue to prove yourself in the other sports.

Fair enough. I just wish we'd add football and have this be a non issue.
