I think the rivalry will be strong among young people. Mobile has a strong student presence at Troy and I know tons of Wiregrass folks at USA. It will be the gray haired fans that have trouble embracing the rivalry.

Agreed.

when you try to figure out who's going to be rivals the belt is an odd group because there has not been much history between many of the members and there is not much commonality..although back when we had a football team at uta we were in the same conference with stAte and u-laf and ulm, but those days were a long time ago. rivalries will develop if we stay together for a while and create a history and pull for each other in ooc games..

The key is stability. You have to be in a conference a while. That and proximity. We didn't develope any CAA rivals because we were only there 7 years and the closest schools were 7 hours away. The SBC problem will be staying together long enough which I doubt happens.

unless conferences above us in the pecking order get larger there is not much upward mobility left to be had.

this is FAR from over. trust me. I would be very surprised if less than 3 teams jump ship before july of 2014.

The WKU / MTSU rivalry will be maintained in C-USA.

WKU will most likely join C-USA soonish. (99% likely, WKU Apollo) The SBC rivalries are dead, unless rivalry schools maintain OOC games with one another outside of the SBC or join the same conference.

Believe me, I know that should WKU go to CUSA, the MT/WKU rivavlry will live on. in fact, there's a decent chance it will happen. I'm just one of those folks that knows that nothing's official until an "official" announcement is made. This whole conference realignment thing has been way too fluid to depend on rumors on message boards and even rumors from "folks in the know" because as the Big East and CUSA have learned, things change on a dime. In life, I'm typically a glass half full guy but on conference realignment, the glass is nearly always almost empty for WKU. For those of us who lived through the previous raids of the SBC (USA fans know what I'm talking about) programs like ours get the shaft quite regularly. Oh well, if it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, all we can do is do what we've been doing, keep winning.

Yes but a lot of these rumors and message board threads have been right in the rescent past....Rumors about MTSU going to CUSA were going around for months before they were invitied...Also Maryland, Rutgers, you name it a lot of rumors have all turned out to be true....
