RE: Augustine Rubit - Sun Belt POY
I don't really care about all conference selections. All I care about is 19-1!
...cue WKU statement about MT SBC tourney results or their past success in 3, 2, 1...

If you don't care then why post in a thread about it?
Seems to me like you are the only person that's quoting the muts past success. That's what the 19-1 record is at this point. Most likely still need to win the tourney or at the very least win the first 2 games to get that at large.

Without really looking up stats and not knowing the types of players they are, I'd probably take Bruce over every guard on teams 1 and 2 to put alongside Marcos and Gantt.
So you think any or every coach is going to take Massey over a jet quick pg (Elfrid Payton) that scores, shoots for %, hands out 5.5 asst and 5.5 rebs and he gets 2.5 steals
NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
Same thing on 2nd team with TJ price and Stefan Moody. You need shooters on the court as much as defense. When you have 3 bigs like on the 2nd team you spread the defense with 2 shooter. Not a player the defense can drop off of and cheat inside....you can't do that with TJ price or Stefan Moody
What you would most likely have is Massey coming off the bench as 6th man (playing 22+ minutes) and as the stopper trying to shut down any guard that gets hot. That right there would be Massey's role on a All Star team
That might be true, but with Marcos Knight, Gantt, and Rubit on the court, you already have a shitload of offense. I realize what the awards are about. Just my opinions.

This.
There are only so many basketballs to go around on the offensive end. Having a defensive specialist makes sense. Even if he's the sixth man, having a defensive specialist makes sense. If you plan on going all offense on your starting five, why not have one of your first guys off the bench be a lock down defender?
No way on a real roster that he's a third teamer.

RE: Augustine Rubit - Sun Belt POY
I think you guys are putting way too much thought into this....Why would a guy who averages 6 pts a game be on any all 1st team all conference team?....The coaches and media are not breaking down teams by postion and need, they are looking at the stats and using their eyes in some cases and than make their selections..Most of these selections are based on stats put up during the season...YOu are not going to find any "defensive specialist" on any 1st team all conference in any conference in America....Stupid thread...
