Marshall to former BE?
Marshall fan posted on CUSA board to expect some big news regarding former Big East this week having to do with conf. realignment..Seems like everything is in place now for former Big East to move on and find 12th member or announced 12th member...And based on this, might be a curve ball thrown with Marshall instead of Tulsa getting invite to former Big East...This would make sense why news has been so quiet lately and would appease East Carolina too...Also makes sense as UAB more than likely could stay in East Div. too of CUSA....Article below pretty much guarantees former Big East conf. stays together for now until UConn and Cincy bolt to different conferences...If i had to guess, I would say Marshall not Tulsa is gone to former BE and Tulsa and UTEP go to Montain West...CUSA counters with WKU, Ark. St. and Georgina St..Just a guess but would hope the next few weeks all of this becomes clearer...While fun to keep track of, I am ready for all of this to be settled so everyone can move on a little bit...

If your scenario would play out exactly like you say. I would go onto an interstate and try to lick bumpers.

Marshall makes geographic sense for the nBE. So does Tulsa and Southern Miss for that matter. But there's only one place in the nBE it would seem.

Unless BYU's available, I dont see the MWC expanding (and maybe not then). Tulsa's only slightly more competitive than the MWC average. UTEP is, at best, on par with the MWC average. Tulsa is distant. Most importantly, the MWC doesn't need anyone.

Bottom line: one added to nBE, one moves from CUSA to nBE, one from Sun Belt to CUSA. The end. I think and hope.

Adding Kentucky, Arkansas, and Georgia. Which is what I have said all along should have been CUSA's plan. But I seriously doubt that they do that.

I think Marshall goes OBE and WKU takes their spot. we add 1 FCS or NMSU and keep trucking.

I absolutely do not believe that MWC is going to expand.

There is a rumor that ESPN has encouraged nBE to go to 14 schools and has given them a list of schools that if added will assure that the per team share does not change but would result in ESPN providing some added assistance in bowl negotiations and would keep the per team distribution intact if Cincy and/or UConn leaves. I've also heard ESPN does not consider Navy essential to the contract.

If you are refering to this thread:

MUHERD76: More News Coming

Then I think you are off base. I don't see Marshall paying that kind of money to have the same access for everything. We could use that 10 million dollars to help build our new engineering buliding, build a baseball stadium, use it to start a new program.

Both Dr Kopp (Marshall's President) and Mike Hamrick (AD) have both stated Marshall's goal was to complete the new academic buildings and facilities. The rest of everything else would take care of itself.

Marshall Engineering Building

Here is Marshall's vision campain website: Herd Vision

For right now I think we are more worried about growing Marshall University. Not all of it happens through athletics.

It's Tulsa. Nothing to see here. Why the hold up in the announcement? Where is the CUSA basketball tournament this year?

Now that ECU has left C-USA, how happy are the rest of the members that they added UNCC and ODU to keep them happy.

They can have Ga St, never understood that add anyway, sorry Ga St fan.

The new C-USA will have an average attendance under 5k for football.

Then ODU will be at the top end of that attendance by far.

Facilities, market, plugged a hole that no longer exists. WKU fans are a peculiar fan base.

ODU is still a good add, Charlotte not so much.

We got rid of Tulame, that alone will boost average attendance. Not even UAB has that kind of lower tier MAC level attendance.

My biggest fear of South getting that C-USA invite, I was banned from the C-USA board a year or so ago for messing with UAb fans. Would I be instantly reinstated on that board if my school were to move???03-hissyfit

A year or so ago and you are still banned? What you said must have been something.

LOL, I think you'd have to go on Blazer Talk and beg forgiveness.

I think Charlotte is just an unknown at this point footballwise. I hope they're successful and for selfish reasons (being only 3 hours from my house) I'm glad they were added.

If that happens I would be able to petition for your reinstatement.

I accept busty brunettes, or large amounts of cash as a down payment.
