Last I heard they had one winning season in the last 20 in football and they average 8,700 in attendance.

Sounds like a fan afraid to move up to the big boys league. Perhaps afraid his Eagles won't be able to keep up with us Slum Lords. His insistsnce to move up with other Tradition Rich FCSers just to be in a pretend FBS conference reeks of fear. Could it be he saw TXST would be in the same conference. The same TXST that sent the Mighty Geagle nation and what was it Six national Championships into a dead spin. Funny read I needed that.

Just taking a guess. Seems someone who objected to Fox News being lambasted was more than likely a Bill O'Reilly fan, if you were just making a more general observation, rather than a defense of Fox News, than I apologize my friend.

The moron who wrote the article is a Rust Belt transplant from Ohio University. He has written more about Ga Tech than Ga Southern and when he writes about Ga Southern, it's usually a hit piece from his blog.
Thanks for reminding us about the Great Meltdown of 2005. We fired that coach (Mike Sewak 2002-2005; 35-14) for some off-field reasons, but blowing a 19-point lead late in the 3rd quarter to giving up 34 points and losing by 15 proved to be a firing offense in itself.
The irony is that the next 4 years were the worst in Ga Southern football history as we abandoned our Flexbone Triple Option offense. Sewak had to go though. He made us look like UGA in that we had "good seasons", but couldn't win the big games. That don't fly at Ga Southern.

Our President, AD and large majority of fans are pro sun belt. I can't speak for every person out there which includes a newspaper blogger that is a transplant from Ohio. You can't win them all.
At the end of the day, the SB has to decide the best teams available and if a newspaper blogger from Ohio results in Jax St or Liberty getting an invite over us then that would be a shocker.

It is similar to what GSU gets here in ATL with the Throw Away Journal's old time sports beat writers. If the team is not GT or UG it is nothing but meat for the grinder. We, the GSU's, real revenge is to beat the beloved GT and UG into the ground. That will take a little while if we can even to get them to schedule us regularly.

I will say, I'm not sure how conservatives stomach Fox News, I don't watch MSNBC because being pandered to makes me feel stupid, or at least makes me believe they think I'm stupid, and Fox News panders to their audience with the best of them.
Fox News is so successful because their spin fits the fears and frustrations of a large number of people. They breathlessly tell you what you were afraid was true (even if it isn't actually true).
MSNBC is less successful because their spin is more "look at how stupid those people are and if you aren't in it with us you are stupid too."
I’m often amused by those that give CNBC and Fox News scathing reviews but tolerate the gross intellectual dishonesty of network news. ABC, NBC, CBS and CNN are hardly the bastions of intellectual integrity and have been caught editing video and parsing national stories a number of times. At times they seem to be more concerned about keeping their positions in the White House Press Core and their seats on Air Force One. On any given night one can turn on any of the networks and hear the same talking points fed to them from members of the White House and Congress. Network news has become almost state run news that no longer is interested in keeping our government honest, but actually aiding it in evading thorough investigation. But as long as people focus on the two networks that are driven by opinion, no one will talk about the major networks failure of responsible journalism.

Oh sure, they suck too, but those arent 24 hr news networks with the exception of cnn. I think mtpkapp mentioned all the other networks briefly. The bottom line is almost all news will be bias somehow and its up to the individual to filter facts from bias.

Agree, but I think a large number don't filter from bias regardless of political ideology. Sorry, discussion for another day.

I am amazed that Americans tend to think other nations are susceptible to government/media propaganda, while somehow believing they themselves are impervious to it.

I promised I wasn't going to post any more on this topic but had to say one more thing, I have friends/relatives who religiously watch FoxNews or CNN or MSNBC. I'm constantly reminding them that because some pretty face (well, some aren't so pretty) on a national program tells them something that it's their duty as intelligent Americans to seek out and confirm the facts for themselves and not take the words of "actors" as fact just because they are famous personalities. Yes, as expected, most of them look at me like I'm nuts.
When 70-80% of journalists readily admit in surveys that they lean to one side of the political spectrum, bias exists. I'm one of those silly Kentuckians who believes that most journalists have the best of intentions. Typically their bias comes out not by blatant partisan talking points but by their choice of topics, their choice of sources of information, etc. That's where the bias is most concerning. Many, not all of us, can discern the open bias of opinion shows. Sadly, many can't detect it when it's presented by "reputable" journalists.
Heck, I even believe most politicians have the best of intentions. Sadly, the growing number of bad apples spoil the perception we have of those sincerely trying to do good.
Call me naive.

I don't think that's going to happen. What I can't understand is how the blogger could write something so naive and idiotic. This fantasy of some made up league or how great FCS was twenty years ago (for four or so teams) and, therefore, will be that great again (for the same teams) because it was so in the past escapes me.
Its the Southern minus App (at least) or the Sun Belt. Those are the two choices.
