Wish NIU AD had the same mentality as the Toledo WBB coach.

Maybe we at NIU can play our part by giving CMU a hard time.

The refs counted the attendance. The lower bowl was packed and there were quite a few in upper section and every suite was open.

just saw the attendance given as 4,557---I would have guessed about 5,000

Despite a day when nothing would fall (both teams shot 26.2%), rebounding and (especially) Defense won the game. Defense can win a lot of games but I hope their Offense makes the trip back from WMU in time for Ball State and the MAC Tourney.

Congrats on the regular season Championship---now hopefully they will go out and get that other Championship (the one that really counts)

The Lady Rockets have been playing at the top of their game for the past couple of weeks BUT today was not a good performance. The only good stat I saw was the rebounds. Field goal and foul shooting were poor and I am not so sure the defense was at the level it needs to be in the tournaments. The 38 points by Eastern was a combination of thier poor shooting percentage and the game delay tactics. They had a lot of good looks on short jumpers which were not contested.

Hopefully the Rockets will ramp it up for Ball State. They need to win that game to give them ANY change of an invitation as an at large entry to the BIG DANCE should they loose in the MAC tourney. A loss to Ball State and either the semi or the conference final would probably be the kiss of death given their current RPI and the damage which additional losses would do to it.

Lets hope they get it together on Wednesday and the following week. They most certainly have the talent to run the table in the MAC. It would be great to see how they stack up against the top teams in the NCAA tourney.

Yes, it would be nice to say that we should be able to keep her because of the passion of our fan base, but she is responsible for doing the things to ignite that passion and I'm sure could take that to a lot of programs. We're definitely glad to have her!

We need a huge Cleveland turnout which I suspect we'll get. We were due for a weak game and between looking ahead to BSU ad EMU's intelligent and well executed game plan we had it. Back to work.

Nope, you're missing the BIG stat - the SCORE!

Looks like UT will have another championship banner or two to hang in Savage. (I mean as long as it won't offend any Miami (OH) fans or anything. LOL!)

I hope this Toledo SEnior dream team will not fall in either MAC tournament game.
Would be a tragedy to see CMU beat Toledo again.
Strategy must be to win the MAC tournament. Let the non-Seniors shine on Wednesday.
You cannot risk injuries over a meaningless game.

Truth be told this team seems exhausted.
Shooting percentage has to improve.
Why does Toledo play down to the level of its opponents?
In the tournament Toledo needs to put teams away and not allow them back in the game.

they won, the BSU game is big, i dont want our seniors to leave their homecourt with a loss.
I'll give them a trap game for today (that or the tunnel wore them out)

Toledo going to the Big Dance is what matters.
Win this game and lose in the MAC championship tournament, Toledo will lose its ranking and be a
longshot for an at large bid.

I agree that keeping the winning streak alive and going out with a win at home sounds impressive.
These ladies have never played in the Big Dance before.
A win will mean a higher ranking in the Big Dance.
That would help Toledo advance to round two.

You are missing my point. Certainly its great that they won the game. But anyone who watches games regularly would have to agree that it was an ugly game and the Lady Rockets did not play well. If they were to play at a similar level against Ball State and in the MAC tourney, they will be back in the NIT again this year. They need to step up and play up to their considerable potential.

Every team plays better some games than others. This year's Rocket team is impressive because it wins even when playing poorly. One reason for that is the players never take a day off effort-wise, even when they are shooting or executing poorly. Yesterday, our rebounding and defense won the game for us, and those are two facets of the game where effort matters. We won despite shooting horribly. That says something.

Sure it does. Although I am not so sure the defense was all that great. But my point is that while they have the talent and effort to beat an inferior team like Eastern (at home) they would not be likely to win with a similar performance against Ball State or whoever gets to the MAC semifinals. Coach was saying that during this time of year they are working on fine tuning so they are playing at the top of their game...but that did not happen yesterday.

And the elephant in the room for me all year has been extremely poor foul shooting. I don't get that. I can't see how they can't improve FT %. I am sure they work on it. Its the kind of thing which could be a major factor in a tight game against a good opponent.
