Ladies fall to 19-10 (10-7 CAA)

Not a good way to end the season. I'm doubtful about a WNIT bid.

It's a 64 team tourney and we're willing to pay for home games.

Last year's CAA teams that made the WNIT (pre-WNIT records):
VCU (16-15)
UNCW (20-12)
Drexel (18-13)
JMU (24-7)
Hofstra (19-11)

We should be OK at 19-10 and 4th in the CAA.

EDIT: Thought the season was over, we play at Northeastern on Sunday. Getting to 20 wins on Sunday would be a lock in my eyes.

Why? I would think this is the one sport where ODU & JMU share athletic department emphasis & a real rivalry that's become a bit more balanced in the last 7-8 years.

Obviously, while a lot of progress has been made by Karen, there's a long way to go to get back to the top 50 programs. But you know what? I've got faith in her to do it; like what she's doing with this program.

I was at the JMU game. it was close for the most part, but JMU killed us on the boards and begam to pull away midway through the second half. Like the men, the women need some serious size.

RE: Lady Monarchs @ JMU
I'm not entirely convinced yet. KB has done some good for the program, but the CAA this year was much weaker than in recent years and we still finished 10-8, and 19-11 overall. Sure that's a lot of wins, but with a SOS of 208, the fact that we haven't didn't beat a team with a winning record on the road all season, and a very weak OOC schedule I'm not entirely in the KB camp myself, and I think the tanking attendance numbers says many aren't interested in attending themselves.

Personally, I'd like to see better and more competitive opponents on the schedule next year. Maybe CUSA will get people interested with Louisiana Tech and MTSU on our schedule, but we'll have to see. But until the team is back in T25 status, I don't think people will start coming back to the games.

Although I agree the women's team did benefit from playing an easy schedule, I think the signs of rebuilding are there. The teams best players, IMO, are underclassmen. KB has to get some quality bigs in the program. They lost several winnable games because they couldn't compete on the boards.

That I can agree with. We'll see how things shake out because it looks like CUSA has the potential to become a very challenging league for women's basketball.

But we do have some coming down the pipeline:

However, it's going to take time for our front court to really come together. We really just need more size overall though, and it's going to haunt this team until its fully addressed.

6'1 forwards aren't going to solve the problem against better competition. ODU needs a couple post players that are at least 6'3. This will be a real challenge for KB. She may have to look overseas.

Don't we have a tall, talented kid from Chicago coming in as well?
