RE: WBB: Recruit Sophie Reecher Named All-State
Thanks for the link Fred. With the loss of Richardson, Baumgartner and Smith (who plays much taller under the basket than her height would suggest) there will be a shortage of "bigs" next year so I would not be surprised if Reecher (and Braun) sees some floor time next year as a freshman.

I don't know whether to be amused or disgusted by the fact the article about Reecher and Brunner was content to say the Brunner is "an Arizona State recruit" whereas for Reecher it had to remind the readers that Toledo is a DIVISION I school ("Reecher will play for Division I Toledo in the MAC next year"). Maybe I should just be grateful that they are trying to "educate" the masses.

Since her high school is less than an hour to DeKalb, you would think readers would know the MAC is DI. Of course, they may not know NIU is DI. Just sayin'.

Byron may only be an hour from Dekalb but you need to remember Dekalb is an hour from anything on top of that so we are talking in the sticks here. Yes, Byron is next door to Rockford which is a lot bigger than Dekalb but not much going on in Rockford either. Typical small town paper trying to educate the average joe.
