The FINAL bracketbuster weekend
WSU and CU are the only ones really playing for the NCAA right now, but perhaps a few games could help NIT consideration/seeding. All Valley games are being played on Saturday

Iona @ Indiana State - 10am ESPNU
Missouri State @ Eastern Michigan - 11am
Evansville @ Wright State - 1pm
Miami @ Southern Illinois - 205pm
Detroit @ Wichita State - 3pm ESPN2
Bradley @ Illinois-Chicago - 3pm
Creighton @ Saint Mary's - 5pm ESPN/ESPN2
Denver @ Northern Iowa - 7pm ESPN3
Green Bay @ Drake - 705pm
Illinois State @ Utah State - 8pm

I see the Valley going 5-5 with wins by Indiana State, SIU, Wichita, Bradley and UNI.

RE: The FINAL bracketbuster weekend
Any issues with Detroit making it in to Wichita for the game? Hoping Creighton gets out of Omaha soon enough for the coast. Haven't heard of when Denver is getting in to CF. Other travel issues across the Valley?

The Valley as a whole needs to fare better than 5-5 to improve some stock and possible seed positions for CU and WSU, but I am not sure it will happen.

I haven't heard anything about travel issues. I know the Wichita metro area got at least a foot of snow and by most accounts, more. It's stopped snowing, at least for now, and I'm not sure how much more is expected. I'd assume the ICT will be fine and Detroit could get here tomorrow. I believe they're in Philly today to take on Temple. I haven't looked to see how this storm is playing out elsewhere or if the NE should be an issue tonight/tomorrow morning for them to get out.

And 5-5 doesn't look good either. I was more optimistic about our record until I looked at the matchups and seeing who was home and away. If CU can be SMC, that makes us 6-4 on my predictions. They've been struggling a bit lately and may be wearing down. The remedy for that isn't a trip out to the left coast.

Correction. Detroit doesn't have any games prior to us. They play Temple next Thursday. My friend gave me bad info. However, the storm has passed and I believe ICT is functioning. Detroit is flying a charter in this afternoon.

RE: The FINAL bracketbuster weekend
Good to know. That would have seemed odd having a BB opponent playing 2 days before the event. It seems every team UNI has drawn in recent years has had a whole week off to prepare while we end up with a grinding Valley game mid-week. Glad ours was Tuesday this year.

Good luck Valley this week, make a showing to help WSU and CUs spots. No one else is in line for an at-large, but InSU and UNI may be able to put themselves in NIT conversation.

We all have a lot to gain this weekend.

How much it helps if the top 4 teams win remains to be seen.

I was wrong. Valley is currently 6-0 with Creighton in the first half of their game.

WSU looked really good against Detroit. No offense to the rest of the MVC, but I wish more teams in conference would play more uptempo. That was a fun game to watch and the way WSU prefers to play.

RE: The FINAL bracketbuster weekend
7-3 isn't bad. Unfortunately UNI ran into a solid team in Denver that had 3 extra helpers on the court. Still should have been able to win at home. But that is the third time in this BB fiasco a visiting team has been able to bring some "help" with them for the game (and UNI didn't get any kind of favors from the MVC assigned refs that went to VCU last year).

Anyways, not a horrible weekend, I think it solidified WSU. Creighton continues to reel and is going to need to get at least two more wins to feel safe. A loss in either remaining game and a first round MVC loss will make them tenuous, though I think having an AA will nudge them in.

Indiana State helped their cause for looking at an NIT invite, UNI is probably on the NIT bubble but can still play themselves there with a strong finish. Evansville had a solid road effort and will be a tough out in St. Louis. I don't know what is up with Illinois State, they've had a couple of tough roadies after the collapse against WSU, will have to see if they right themselves.
