This stuff is so far from over.....

"So why does this matter to UConn fans? Because anything that destabilizes the rest of college athletics increases the chance that someone (i.e. the ACC) could come calling to backfill their league and rescue UConn from the hell that the new Big East has become."

Maybe ACC doesn't backfill. Aren't they over 12 members?

Maybe Chapel Hill doesn't jump? I don't know enough about the more recent particulars of the situation, but it would surprise me if they did.

UNC isn't leaving the ACC. You can never say never but chances are better you will makeout with a hot Victoria Secret model before you see UNC leave the ACC.

There's a 50/50 split or thereabouts among alumni, fans and even some within the athletic department. UNC has its hands full cause it's a tough sell either way.

Very doubtful that the Big East picks from CUSA again. Tulsa....maybe if they want in for academic reasons. Presidents call the shots. Outside of that, I cant imagine anyone making a lateral move to a conference that is likely to pay only 250K more. Especially considering the CUSA buyout and the cost of the Big East entry fee. If these reports are true then UCONN and or Cincy is likely headed to the ACC and that would even further reduce the Big East TV deal.

At some point, I think the Big East will go back to their roots and pick up some of that lost presence in the North East. Buffalo and a fledgling UMASS would probably fit the bill. Losing Syracuse was huge and losing UCONN will be huge as well. Another thing to remember is that neither Buffalo or UMass would have to pay much of an exit fee as part of the Mac.

Was at a restaurant and that's all I heard and the person who said it should know what's going on.

We could be looking at 4 schools Missouri being one.

Not sure where that number is coming from. Bottom line, if conference armageddon comes all sorts of unforseen stuff could happen.

...Numbers pulled out of a hat....this is going to get crazy ugly soon...but I do agree with him that NO WAY SHOULD USM MAKE ANY KIND OF A MOVE (or any other candidate) meaning that CUSA is not an option....let the nBE starve and see what happens. The MWC and CUSA are now in a position of power. Don't fk it up this time Banowsky. This could turn out to be the crayfishing of the boil.

I was pulling that based off the recent ESPN article citing sources from CBS sports:

http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/i...-nbc-offer

NBC Sports Network has verbally offered the Big East between $20 million and $23 million per year for six years to acquire the league's media rights, sources told ESPN.

Assuming that number is on the high side at $23 Million that is roughly 1.9 Million per team for a 12 team league. Quote me if I'm wrong but doesn't each team in CUSA take in roughly $1.7 Mill per team?
