I think Memphis and UofL should play each other (just like UC plays Memphis) even if we are not in the same conferences now.
I don't think there is any shame in saying Memphis is a rival.....
UC's rivals:
Eggs-zavier, UofL, and Memphis
I see maybe Pitt or WVU in the future because of geography
O$U could have been a good basketball rivalry but since they have been pusses since we beat them twice for the National Title, they have ducked us for 40 years.....
Until now, that we have our worst team in 25 years and they have their be$t........but that's another thread
It has become at best a one way rivalry.
Even when we played in C-USA most UofL fans considered the following bigger rivals then Memphis:
1. Kentucky
2. Cincinnati
3. Marquette
UK and UC I can see....but I am surprised to see that UofL fans considered Marquette a bigger rival than Memphis.......who would-a thunk it?
My opinion of who UofL viewed as rivals in the last decade would be:
1. UK
2. UC
3. Memphis
4. Marquette
I think the Memphis rivalry will certainly go down some with not playing but I think Marquette will some as well, although maybe not if something crazy happens later this month in the Hall against them. They became rivals due to playing twice a year, a ton of close games with multiple overtimes, and a pure hatred in Louisville for Mike Deane when he coached there. With only playing them once a year, some others from the Big East might replace them as a rival somewhat.
WVU is hot right now and it will be crazy in Morgantown next month but I don't know about that rivalry in basketball longterm just because I'm not sure that WVU isn't headed back down to the 2003-04 and before days after this 2 year run of glory.

We have had some unreal games with Marquette (96' CUSA champioinship game...OT win for UC for example) but I wouldn't call them a "rival" per say. Don't get me wrong...I LOVE beating them but they are not on the same level as XU, UofL, or Memphis...

Also when Ellis Myles blew his knee out it was against Marquette and Tom Crean was screaming at the top of his lungs that he was faking it. Yeah Tom, he faked it SSSOOO much he was out for basically TWO FREAKING YEARS.

When you win a Title then come back and talk smack to us. Otherwise run along little wanna be.
and how has having a piece of cloth that is over 15 years old hanging in the top of your arena helped you win any games THIS season...it obviously hasn't.
enjoy your banner.
Go Tigers!!!
