The conference would basically control the top non-AQs, would dominate the non-AQ BCS slot, would be able to send schools to bowls all over the country, and would be attractive to a national cable network because games in Florida or Philly could have a bearing on teams in California and Texas. The group of teams such a conference would control would allow it to negotiate a better TV contract as there would be no real similat alterrnative. Right now, a MW game and a nBE game is about the same level of competition. It also opend two new market areas up for both conferences.
It only works if the two are making about the same money. If one or the other makes significantly more than the other, the move would be of no value to the more highly paid conference.
