RE: VT celebrates 3,000
and we've got a pretty good shot of making it to 4,000 before UVa finally beats us (in football).

And since your institute was founded, your days without a national championship are as follows:
51,542 days from the start date to the end date
Or 141 years, 1 month, 11 days
Alternative time units
51,542 days can be converted to one of these units:
4,453,228,800 seconds
74,220,480 minutes
1,237,008 hours
7363 weeks (rounded down)

Oh, I see that the UVA fans are still upset that nobody respects their Tennis and Lacrosse titles.

Keep crowing about state championships, and we'll keep getting national championships.

I'll see you back here on day 5,000 and you can fill me in on all the women's rowing titles you've won in that time.

University of Virginia football has been so pathetic for so long that I no longer consider them a rival in that sport. For me, Virginia Tech's biggest ACC football rival is Georgia Tech.

I'd go with 1. Miami, 2. Ga Tech, 3. UVa - but only until Pitt joins.

Where does SU fit in there? or do they fit in there? Had some great games back in the BE. The teams are .500 against each other in the BE

I WAS a very good rivalry, but it's just been dormant too long... and with the current ACC scheduling model, it could be another decade

Correction. Cuse leads the series 9-8.
But you are correct. The 2 teams really havent played that much. But the games were intense, especially after Michael Vick spurned SU at the last minute to play for his home State team, and then blasted SU in his first game against them 63-0.

Was that 9th Cuse win from before both teams were in the Big East? In any case, it was a nice even series while it lasted.
I remember watching our 1998 game on ESPN Classic (wasn't quite old enough to enjoy the game when it originally happened). Talk about thrills...and for us Hokies, heartbreak. Last-second TD by McNabb to come back and win...which also affected the Big East's first BCS berth.
Whenever we do get around to playing in the ACC, I'm sure the games will be rockin'!

Thing is, I EXPECT to beat UVa every year. I didn't even watch the game the last few years (just check score periodically while watching GT/UGa, FL/FSU, or CU/SC). Miami & GT? I watch every minute of those games, because I know they CAN beat us (occasionally).

I have a few UVA fans in the family. They like to act like they just won the national championship every time they hire a new coach. So I need to continue beating them to keep Thanksgiving bearable.
I usually go to the game home and away too since I have family near Charlottesville.

Right now, I'd go with that too but I'm expecting GT to swap divisions with Louisville to help appease FSU and Clemson. If that happens, I'll drop GT in favor of Pitt.

Virginia Tech/Syracuse was developing into one of the best rivalries in the Big East prior to realignment. I attended the VT/Syracuse game in the Carrier Dome back in '98---something I'll never forget. The Dome was packed; the noise so loud my ears nearly bled; and the last-second winning touchdown by McNabb & Co. was like a knife in the heart. Too bad SU and VT won't be in the same Division, 'cause I think our rivalry would resume where it left off in 2003.
