There is absolutely no reason to post that. As much as Fleck's #rowtheboat is annoying, it's the way social media works these days.

I LOVE candor on twitter/facebook, but you have to be smart enough to know the line.

If he was an NBA coach, he'd be fined $50k.

This.

Oh I get it, we've turned into professional Twitter interpreters.

Doesn't matter if he said it on social media or anywhere else, it's out there and stupid

Quote:I'll make this plain and simple for everyone.

Do I think the comment was dumb? Yes

That's a first! 03-melodramatic

Think maybe because his dumb twitter comment came after a loss?! 03-idea

He would have been held to task no matter when he sniveled like this, but it's VERY TELLING he's POUTING this way after a loss rather than take accountability.

Point being...you guys want to interpret what a Tweet means.

Was the tweet dumb? Yes. Does anyone know what he is referring to? Guesswork at best.

But it doesn't matter to some...the pitchforks are busted out in true stampede style. That's fine, you guys are gonna have your party no matter what. He's done plenty of questionable things during a 7 game win streak...but they hardly get scrutinized like a tweet after a loss.

It was a dumb comment, but I personally would have had the same reaction if we had won 8 in a row when he made it or lost 8 in a row....

I'd have made the same comment if Andy Murray or Jim Leyland had tweeted that too.

You would've pointed out that it was a dumb comment, no doubt.

The point is...people want to project something on Hawk that isn't necessarily there. ie-calling him a pouter and claiming that he isn't taking accountability for things.

Unless any of us actually talk to him, we are left to interpret bits and pieces. It's hardly a fair way to judge the man.

I think it's totally fair to judge him based on his tweets/Facebook posts.

And he should expect it. If not, he is incredibly naive.

He's likely naive, or flat out doesn't care, about what his critics think of him.

I doubt he thought twice about his facebook post and tweet. It likely never crossed his mind that the Stampede would get their paws on it and go to town.

Social media posts hardly give an accurate portrayal of what people think or how they feel. Yet they can be very damaging.

And to be clear, I would be shocked if the MAC office...or WMU didn't say anything to him about it. Not sure if there is a formal rule against such things, but I would think someone would say something. There's a pretty good chance that it's deleted by the morning. No inside info...just a hunch.

He didn't make the "dumb tweet" after a win EA3, so that's purely strawman on your part. He made it after a loss. I'd say he made it about refs. Pouting style. 03-hissyfit

Now let's all open our "Company Guy Manual" to "Protect your Coworker", Chapter 17, page 662......

RE: Hawk with some Facebook Gold
Did anybody else notice in his comments in DD's article, Hawk talked about how in that BSU game, the team got caught up with reacting to the officiating.

Quote:“We wanted too many calls. We got too worried about the officiating,” Hawkins said. “It wasn’t good, but you can’t worry about it. You have to overcome it; you can’t control it. We got too wrapped up in that, a lot of our kids did.

“We just didn’t respond well. We have to be more mentally tough. We can’t let it affect the way we play our game. Really, for the first time this year, it was the first time I’ve seen that from this team.”

http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2..._co_5.html

You'd think that somebody who has been coaching for as long as Hawk might just understand that a team will reflect its leadership. Look in a mirror, coach. They see him constantly whining, just like a certain problem child of last season. Wonder where they got that from? He lacks self reflection and seems unaware of how his own behavior is mirrored by his team. Don't throw your guys under the bus but man up and admit that YOU get too caught up with officials. We already know that several officials seem to have it in for him.

For the company line men, sorry but I've felt this way for a long time - both during wins or losses. Has nothing to do with snapping a win streak.

As an aside, did anybody else catch at least part of Kansas blowing out K-State last night? My biggest impression was that the officiating was outstanding. Several plays with contact but some really great no calls. All I could think about was that if those were MAC officials, there would have been multiple whistles and no flow whatsoever to the game.

I know but do have to wonder if they approach MAC games with a different mindset, perhaps unconsciously.

Besides those were B12 officials i was referencing.

The difference is he's the coach. He's allowed to worry about officiating. His players are not. Nearly every coach in the country would tell you that.

RE: Hawk with some Facebook Gold
EAI3 is it surpising that the "fire Hawk" crowd would be so opinionated about a comment such as this. I'm sitting here thinking that perhaps is wasn't as bad as this crowd wants to project. Consider who may be following Hawks "tweeting", my guess is that it is fans and his players. He isn't allowed to say this in a public forum, consequences from the league, and referees. So if that is the case, perhaps he is not blaming the loss on the team and the players, he is merely commenting on the discrepency in the fouls calls made on this given night. So if he players are the listening on his tweets, they can approach practice and the next game in a better frame of mind rather than worrying about a single play, turnover, missed shot for the next several days.

It is a rare night where there is such a discrepency, even for MAC officials on a given night. The game was winable. I don't recall Hawk getting a technical foul, which would give the "fire Hawk" crowd a reason to howl. Fans, you have to love them, never made a bad game decision, never lost a winable game, and always win the championships. Of course if you are from the JSC, you don't have a reasonable opinion. Mobs don't give up until there is blood shed, so I don't expect much different.

Do I like all coaches, I don't believe so, Do I like everything that a coach, or a president does, NO WAY. I do live in a country where I can freely express these opinions even if it is ad nasuem. I choose not to be a bore in that regard.

So let's not make a mountain out of a molehill.

Always proud to be a Bronco.

First off, it is a public forum. Far more public than had he said it to Robin Hook in the post game show which is not recorded, replayed, or heard by the officials who are likely still changing to leave.

Not only is it a public forum, it is read, retweeted, forwarded, shared, and lives on forever. You sit right in front of Hawkins so you know he's a chronic complainer. Furthermore, he's not very good at it, unlike someone like Donawald who was mentored by the best in the biz. He knew how to get the officials attention, and he knew how to fire up the crowd and his team with a timely tech.

Hawk has a funny dry wit and he lets go a zinger now and then that 1 guy in the building hears, and he gets T'd up. In the mean time everyone is going, "WTF did he do to deserve that?"
