What I'd like to see
A game where the whistle doesn't blow every 7 seconds.
Western playing defense without that terrible hedging they try to do, leaving our big men 30 feet from the defensive basket, and someone wide open for 3 point shots.
Western playing defense without fouling every 5 seconds.
A game like Michigan-Wisconsin, or Ohio State-Indiana where the bonus does not come into effect until 2 or 3 minutes left in a half, if at all.
A coach on the bench that teaches his kids how to play defense without the massive fouling, rather than one who complains all the time to the referees.
An offense where the big guys are near the basket, where they should be.
Western in the NCAA before I die. 1976 was the absolute "funnest" year in WMU basketball, with 2004 a close second.

Comparing that IU vs OSU game to last night's game is apples and oranges. Not even the same game. For many reasons, and before we go on that "MAC ref" diatribe again, we share the same pool with the B1G.

1998 was epic for me.

1976 - Eldon Miller - Griffin, Cutter, etc. Won 26 in a row before losing at Toledo (which shot over 70% for the game). Rated 10tgh in the nation. Beat St. Johns at Notre Dame to advance to top 8. Lost to Marquette (slimly). What a year.

That year made me a future Bronco. I didn't have the context before then to realize how great that was. 98 was a shock from the selection to the win.

2004 did that for me. I was in high school then and went to all but two home games that year.

They played and won 10 games on a summer European tour before the season, too. That team beat Virginia Tech in OT in the first round of the NCAA. Had they gotten past Marquette, they would have faced undefeated, #1 ranked Indiana. I so wanted to see how Griff and Cutter would do against Knight's team of Kent Bensen, Scott May.

I was a student and don't think I missed a game that year at Read. But it was also the time reality struck me that if a coach had a season like that at Western with the high national rankings, he was gone.

Some may remember that the NCAA finals that year was Ricky Green's Michigan vs. Indiana.

RE: What I'd like to see
I had thought all that year that Western was one team that matched up well with IU. Griff and Cutter were better than May and Bensen in my mind, and I thought Murray could more than play with Buckner.

But, we found out the next few years that the general owned Miller, so I guess it was good that we didn't see that matchup?

We won 19 in a row (not 26, final record was 25-3) before bowing at Toledo.

Beat Virginia Tech, not St. Johns, in NCAA 1st Round. Lost to Marquette 63-57.

Kind of like "the older I get the better I was".

Yes, worst thing I ever did was play - I've gotten better every year I haven't.
