That whole Martin episode is STILL painful for UC fans....we really thought we had the team to bring it home that year.....Logan, Satterfield, Mickel, Johnson, Martin, that was a deep deep team. Kmart was such a warrior and the team was mentally tough as well. They did it all, score inside, hit three's, defend, they were deep......OUCH!!!

I love the rivalry as well. I just got home from attending my third consecutive game that UL has played up there. It is a fun place to catch a game. I hate how narrow the concourse is to get from one side of the arena to the other though.

Louisville-Cincinnati Rivalry is unique. Yeah we want to beat each other brains in every sport but you do have a lot of respect from both sides. Both football and basketball are very very physical, it gets heated but at the end of the day both sides shake hands and wish each other well.

I for one always liked Huggins-(I hated that he beat Denny all the time). When we are not playing each other I will usually pull for UC especially OOC. Favorite former Bearcat was Mad Max, would have loved to see him @ Louisville with Ellis Myles and Francisco Garcia.

UC-UL is a great rivalry less than 100 miles apart! What makes it fun is UL is my 2nd favorite team so its, I hate them about three times a year and root for them the rest of the seasons. The ESPN people know it and thats why they made it on Rivalry week and Big Monday. Both teams are exciting can play above the rim and are streaky three point shooters. Both schools have great home court advantages etc. Both schools have very smart basketball fans who appreciate good play on both sides. The question on the Keg of Nails is that is goes to the team that is Tough as Nails that day. Its much different than the UC-XU rivalry 3 miles apart, where almost 100% of the fans of both hate each other all year. You root for each other to lose and its almost as good as your own win when the other loses.

I'll tell you who I really really wanted.....I wanted DeJuan Wheat on the 96 team with Fortson, Long, Burton and Flint....if we had Wheat on THAT team, we would have went further than Elite Eight that year....he was the missing ingrediant that team needed to make it to the NC game.....I love Wheat (even though he killed UC).....

Wheat on that team and maybe UC is the Champs instead of UK.
