We played poorly tonight, but I have a feeling some of you never watch any other CBB games. TCU is winless in the B12, and has NEVER beaten a top 5 team, yet they whipped #5 Kansas tonight, 62-55, and that was about as close as it ever was. Kansas shot 3-22 in the first half with 7 TOs. Kansas looked TERRIBLE, much worse than we did.

Ranked Cincy got clocked tonight by Providence.

Some of you folks aren't happy unless we win every game by 20 points and make no mistakes. Try to relax and enjoy the game, good or bad, and learn to appreciate ugly wins.

Yep, Shaq will sit out the SO Miss game. The ref knew EXACTLY what he was calling when he did it. Merry Christmas, So Miss!!

this stuff writes itself. snicker.

Quote:RE: Ben Braun not happy with our team and coach?
Short version of truth:
- Rice punk hammers Joe Jackson on a cheap shot flagrant foul, knocking TIGER PG to the floor.
- 98% of people watching the game (live or TV) see the foul as deliberate with the intent to hurt Joe.
- 2% of people watching the game (live or TV) see the foul as hard but in no way deliberate or intentional; basically implying this happens all the time in BB games.
- Refs actually make the correct call - intentional foul.
- Refs examine TV replay and eject Rick punk along with TIGER players Black and Will Barton for stepping too far onto the court.
- C-USA office reviews the entire situation on Thursday and make the right decision to SUSPEND the Rice punk for his next game and permit Black and Barton to play tonight. This validates the 98%.
- The 2% who believe the foul was merely HARD have gone to EXTREMES in this 180+ post thread to convince the 98% they are right and the 98% - and C-USA office - are wrong. The 2% shrug off the Rice punk's deliberate assault on Joe, point fingers at Pastner for going onto the court, question other posters who see it for what it TRULY was, and basically defend their INCORRECT position to the ends of the earth.

Some people will simply never admit being wrong. Ever.

I hope folks possess the perspective, maturity, and patience to function successfully in the real world that they lack in the message board community.

I don't think you get ejected for the next game on a flagrant 2

Twitter consensus is he's out Saturday pending review by CUSA.
He is out for the USM game and they will not reverse it and make the Refs look bad..He will not play..

I'm sure both Bowen and Pastner will appeal directly to the head of officials for a ruling on that totally BS call. Again, if it is deemed a fight or trying to start a fight, then the suspension will stand.

Having said that, I agree with tigergg. The conference office will NOT overturn it for two basic reasons:
1) It shows lack of support for the incompetent dumbazzes wearing the striped shirts they actually PAY to call these games.
2) It is another way to punish MEMPHIS further.

Banowsky probably is giggling like the Joker from one of the suites at Moody about that call.

Priceless.

There is absolutely a relevance between our game and the Kansas game tonight. SMU WON at TCU earlier this year. We were favored tonight by 8 points, and won by 8. Kansas was favored by double digits over a slightly worse team, and lost by 7. Perspective.

RE: ***Official Memphis @ SMU Game Thread***
FUT, I don't remember the foul on JJ and only saw grainy clips of the Shaq foul tonight as I was teaching at the local college tonight and only got home for the last few minutes.

A few points, I'd say:

1. Having not seen the two fouls well (I saw a grainy gif of the Shaq one), it is possible that boss (and others) were rational to think one foul is worse than the other. I can't comment rationally (I don't have enough info), but just b/c both fouls were called hard, doesn't necessarily mean they were wrong.

2. One thing about being a fan of any school / team is you are going to root for your team well past rational and all ties will go to your team. That is to be expected. Hell, I didn't see either foul, but I think Shaq shouldn't be suspended (I kid, I have no idea really, but I hope he is not).

3. I will agree with boss that it is likely the CUSA office is pleased about this as they likely don't want to do us any favors. That's rational, you don't want your league being won by a leaving team.

>>>>

I guess my point is, while I appreciate rational discourse as much (more?) than most, in this case, I can see a home team fan taking Shaq's side. Human nature.

My only complaint is that I wish Shaq had challenged the shot better. He makes a more controlled block attempt, we're not having this discussion.

Carry on.

I agree with this.

But it should have been an Intentional and was unneeded.

I agree. Shaq made a freshman mistake. But, it should have been a flagrant 1 and nothing more.

Nightmare officials , everything moved so slow....

In all the bad acid trips I ever had nothing moved slow. I wonder if that's why I sometimes still see weird things in my periphery. What can I say, it was the 70's, I blame it on Acid Rock.

Larry Brown will have some good players coming in next year and so won't have to play like that --- I hope.
