RE: recruiting
It is absolutely ridiculous the number of football decommitments there are every year. I know these kids are 17-18, but my gosh, I'd be willing to bet around 60% switch commitments these days. I realize coaches over-recruit, so it works both ways. I also realize just because a kid commits, other coaches don't slow down pushing. (this is no knock on your topic, but more a blanket statement)

I completely agree we had a receiver last year Stephon Brown committed and all about MT all over twitter then a couple days before signing day he went WKU.

Recruiting/Signing season has become a game in itself. But some of these kids who celebrate winning that game on Wednesday don't realize that they have won themselves right out of playing time for the next four years.

RE: recruiting
Like you said- it's two sided. Just like the coaches that leave after a year or two for greener pastures, the players have to treat it like a business.

If they happen to find a better fit for themselves after a commitment, then I see no reason why they shouldn't go for it. This isn't marriage....it's a business transaction.

RE: recruiting
Commitments are just verbal. I take them with a grain of salt. It's all about who signs on the dotted line, and even then, it's not the end all (we have a player on our roster that committed to UH, went to practice, then decided he didn't want to be there, so they let him transfer to us).

Kids changing verbals don't bother me, because it's just a verbal. I'd be more inclined to say "Great kid! We appreciate you verbally committing to us, but we'll take it with a grain of salt."

Rather than making a "national signing day" and trying to make it some kind of event, just let them sign whenever they want up to the deadline day. Then, when the paperwork is signed... if they change their mind, I'd raise an eyebrow.

RE: recruiting
Two Points;

1. Most of the verbal committments made this past weekend will not be reversed because of the "quiet period" that began today. (recruiters cannot contact recruits before national signing day.)

2. Recruits do not have to sign on the National signing day, it is simply the first day of the signing period. Most do sign on that day because if they don't the schools may give their committed scholarship to the next name on the list.

Not correct...the no contact period is just a "ban" on face time, the coaches can still mail them info and can call/text unlimited.

RE: recruiting
Here is the rule on "Dead Period" which is in effect between the last weekend of recruiting season and the national signing date:

"The only permissible communications during a dead period are phone calls (limited by NCAA regulations to one call per week) and correspondence."[b]

So yes, they can call once and send junk mail and texts.

I believe he tried to get rid of his previous post so it would just show WarhawkReport's post in the quotation box.

He omitted this part from his reply:

He should have gotten rid of this:

He ended up with two end quotes "[/quote]"

Interesting since Rivals has WKU with 34, ULM with 14 and I'm sure there are other discrepancies that I'm sure are there. Additionally, I would take UNT, MTSU, and the others out since they are not in the league for 2013

RE: recruiting
Even 247Sports has WKU with 4 early enrolees and 28 hard commits. With a limit of 28 total signees per year and 25 total scholarships, that number does seem a bit excessive.

Composite vs just the 247 ranking.
