RE: FOI request turns up potential Sun Belt candidates
The SBC will be at 8 football members and 10 Oly members at the end of this athletic year. To keep our post season tournements in Oly sports, the Belt must add 2 all sports members. My take is the SBC needs to add the best 2 FCS football programs within our footprint and those are Appalachian State and Georgia Southern. These 2 Universities have a great fanbase and are in the top 10 in attendance every year. The SBC should also add as football only members New Mexico State and Idaho. This would balance the fact that the Conference has 2 non football members in the West division and the 4 would just swap out after football season. This would give the Conference 12 members in football and 12 in Olympic sports and a Championship game in Football. The Conference can arrange schedules in football (if possible) in the West division where members make no more than 1 trip per year to our far West members. Adding quality is important to this Conference as it is success on the field that has gotten the attention of ESPN and others. A sample of this is the Ragin Cajuns getting 2 back to back Tuesday Night nationally televised games on ESPN 2. A 9 & 4 record and dramatic win over San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl helped that along. I would expect the same 9 win season this year and a victory in the New Orleans Bowl over Big East bound East Carolina and a very exciting Offense will do the same this year....

adding Idaho gets us nothing and adding nmsu for football only leaves them to take their best asset which is basketball to some other conference. I think adding nmsu for all sports would give the conference a state flagship school for a west division. adding 2 no name schools on the east would not be needed..just add one of the two..

nmsu a flagship university? I thought UNM is considered/perceived as the flagship university in New Mexico.

UNM is considered the public 'state flagship'
NMST is the state's 'land grant' university

It is the "Kansas State" to UNM's Kansas. It is still one of the top universities in the state. It is a USNews National university with 20,000 students and a $150M+ endowment. They may not have the best team on the field, but their court and diamond sports are good.

The whole "flagship" tag strikes me as very 19th century.

What are the odds that Georgia State plays them in 2015? COGS

Missed this before posting a new thread, hilarious that Space and I both used the word thrill and that Floridajag was the first to reply.

Georgia state fans: have any of you heard anything new about the new stadium in Atlanta? Would y'all have access as well or stay at the Georgia dome?

Dome to be torn down if the new stadium is built downtown at the GWCC site. We would move to new stadium as a legacy event.
