MG61 must be crushed! Heard he ripped his poster of Tony Mitchell off the wall after the first loss to UL up in Denton.
And again, 30-23.
Good job beating our basketball teams whos season has already been over for two months.
The view I have is this:
This guy was a projected possible lottery pick last season, and he stayed because IMO someone told him his stock was not nearly as high as advertised. Still possibly a first or high second round, and yet totally failed in a league as weak as the Sun Belt. This guy has a lot more problems than an ineffective coach. By the way he is not surrounded by plugs.
He sulks, trash talks, stares people down, then loses. This boy is not ready for the NBA, or the Sun Belt. His problem does not exist with coaching, or supporting players, it starts between the ears, and that is the hardest thing to overcome as a person.
I agree for the most part. He has potentially lost himself millions by staying for another year, fouls out way too often and has not been the player we expected him to be by any means this season. However, I don't see how we have regressed this much this quickly under the new head coach, he has to take most of the blame. I wonder where this team would be with Johnny Jones at the helm, and I wonder which players on the current roster will potentially transfer this off season. They look like they don't care anymore.
Hopefully after next season when we can (maybe) buy out his contract we'll get a qualified coach to rebuild this thing once it has completely after Benford is let go.

Momma's boy better grow up. Should he get a chance in the NBA, those guys will chew him up and spit him out if he doesn't get his mind right. So much potential. Nothing but a bust.

LOL!!! Tony Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, Tony Mitchell, Tony Mitchell.....
Don't be so sensitive! If you guys weren't pasting his name all over the forum this past summer and preseason, you would probably wouldn't hear much from anyone. But now you can put his photo on a milk carton because he has disappeared!

Reminds me of when WKU fans taunted Southall when Denver upset UL in the Sun Belt tournament in Diddle.
Southall literally cried.

Southall was a mental case at times, but he did get to dance in Diddle with the rest of the thugs. I remember a whole lot of WKU fans crying about it as well.

Actually... That's pretty much what the L.A. Lakers do.

Yes Mitchell and the whole NT team are about as big a disappointment as it can get.
I understand everyones glee at how bad NT is this year after the build up of what most at NT thought should be one of their best teams ever.
However, every defense in the Belt is designed to stop Mitchell when they play NT and thus far they have had almost universal success. However, those that suggest that Mitchell is not a very talented player and is not good enough for the Belt are truly sports dumb.
Thus far he is having an awful year for him, but to suggest that the player that led almost all statistical categories in the Belt last year is not talented is foolish.

Actually the Cajuns didn't even double team him. It look like he taks himself out of the offense most of the time and hangs around the perimeter a lot. He only wound up with 4 shots in the game. The one three pointer he took and made against the Cajuns the last game was about 5-6 feet behind the three point line, and then ran back downcourt taunting the fans in the stands. I will say he's one of the quickest jumpers I've seen which shows up in blocking shots, but oddly he doesn't look likea great rebounder.

Not sure what has happened, but Mitchell was a much better player last year. Thought he rebounded better and was more into the game last season.

Mitchell seemed to think he was a PG in our game. He'd try and shoot jumpers and really made no attempt to drive.

No one is saying he isn't physically gifted, because he is. He is an NBA level talent, but mentally he is completely unprepared for the college game, let alone the pro. JJ apparently knew how to get more out of him than Benton, but at some point, a player has to be self motivated and just go out and do it. I still think there is hope for him, but he is going to have to want it, and right now he doesn't seem to care.

I don't see anyone suggesting such a thing!

RE: It's time, North Texas
UNT just had two more guys considered lost for the season, both who where pretty big parts of an already understaffed offense.
UNT has no outside shooters (due to the NCAA refusing to allow a transfer waiver), 1 lone healthy true ball handler (that is a true FR because the starter has a broken ankle) 3 SR's out for the season and TM who is becoming more and more frustrated that every time he touches the ball on the offensive end it seems he picks up a foul.
The whole team is a mess and will be until next season when everyone is healthy again. Not a huge fan of Benford, but I would like to see him try and play with a full deck.
