I'm pretty sure he re-classified to 2014. Eagles Nest Blog had it all updated.

RE: EMU Hoops Targets (2014)
Last year at this time, I attended Murphy's teamcamp at the Convo. Lots of talent there but the staff didn't sign anyone, seems like the emphasize is on JC and transfer recruits.

However, the team camp which should include a number of bigtime teams and players will be held this Fri and Sat at the Convo. Open admission - should be a lot of talent there and maybe we will be able to sign some prep players. Steve Bell and others should be there.

Here is Steve Bell's notes on the recent U of D camp, hopefully he'll do the same with the EMU camp, EMU has offered Tillman:

We'll see.

It depends how the "EMU brand" is with high school players.

If the 'brand' isn't too good, then we will see more JUCOs, maybe transfers, etc.

I knew this post was coming...05-stirthepot

Dennis seems to have forgotten that getting recruiting (and other info) isn't like going to the store to buy a gallon of milk.

One needs to get on campus, attend events and hope to learn SOMETHING (not knowing a priori what the SOMETHING will be). It could be hoops; it could be football. It could be any or all.

I believe there was both hoops and football camps so it would have been a good day to be there. 03-idea

I'd guess Steve Bell, probably a bunch of EMU players, etc. would have been at the hoops camp.

Maybe someone from Scout.com or Rivals.com at the football camp. Maybe some EMU FB players, etc.

Steve Bell did he attend?

Anyone attend?

The comment about Murphy is superfluous as coaches don't hold camps and then go on chat sites and start posting.

I do follow some CMU stuff (since what is relevant to CMU might be relevant to us). They have folks like Tyler Parsons and Steve Schwanda who are on top of things.

Those who do likewise for EMU:

Why aren't we going after Johnson? Right out of Ypsilanti, we already have a step up on most schools, what's it gonna hurt to try and go after him.

I'm sure we have, but I bet he gets an offer from many B1G schools, including maybe one a half dozen miles away.

He is easily one of the top 5 in MI, and maybe #1, as indicated by the posted link.

I haven't got honed in on 2014 recruiting but he is almost certainly a B1G or equivalent signee.

The highest recruit has to the best of my knowledge was Theron Wilson ( 1992?) who probably was a top 5 in MI along with I believe Webber, Rose, Vashon Leonard and one more. We 'beat' Iowa for him. This is one of those instances where a MAC school actual BEAT a B1G school for a top prospect.

RE: EMU Hoops Targets (2014)
Here is a top 10 list for MI (2014):

http://www.alleyesonuhoops.com/2014-top-ten.html

i would expect EMU to make their big run at some of those ranked 6 - 10:

e.g., Poplar, Davis, and Diane.

They are all from S.E. Michigan.

good luck with the preps, I would suspect the staff recruits via the JUCO/Transfer route again. Haven't proven to me that they can recruit Michigan hs talent, hope I'm wrong!y g

RE: EMU Hoops Targets (2014)
Here is a very, very nice article on Jaylen Johnson, a big timer from Ypsilanti.

He is very, very rooted with his mother, family, community, church, etc. etc. IF there is ANY player of his caliber to pass up the big name schools to stay home it could be him. (and he has a brother two years behind him).

Sure it is a long shot, but if EMU gets one of those big recruiting miracles (ala Theron Wilson from 20 years ago) it could be this guy.

http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20130...|FRONTPAGE

It’s about his development,” she said. “It doesn’t matter how successful the program is. We want to decide before the start of the season. It’ll be Pastor Shelby, Brooks, his God-dad, me and his AAU coaches. I’m praying about it. I’ll give my take after everyone has their opinion. Then it’ll be Jaylen’s choice.
