Guys,
It is OBVIOUSLY photoshopped. It was done several years ago by a poster on the Owls Nest and it gets broken out whenever FAU has somethign big to celebrate.
Thats all, NCOwl was just using it to show were happy that we are moving this year.
If that's the case, this picture is way out of context given the circumstance. Nonetheless, congratulations guys and welcome aboard.

I'm not trying to start anything over here but I find it somewhat comical that FAU's own beat writer and so many FAU fans were mocking FIU for over reacting to our CUSA invite. FAU's beat writer said that FIU was acting as if we just joined the SEC lol now look at you guys. Don't get me wrong-I am happy FAU is on board. I think it's great for both Universities but I couldn't help remembering (looking at this picture) how much we were mocked for showing a little excitement. Now look at you guys
When UNT and FIU said they were leaving, a sense of "oh no, we're going to be left behind" filled the campus, which then morphed into more hate over time. A good amount of us, including myself wanted to strengthen the SBC so the pecking order could change, but once MTSU said they were going to accept the bid, it now became a matter of not being left behind, as the pecking order has stayed the same. Than to level heads at both FAU and FIU, our two great institutions are together again.
I remember I invited many of y'all to the FIA-FAU game up at the Burrow, which is called Bury the Burrow in Red. Now that our rivalry will continue to the next level, I insist that you all go to see what taking pride in the rival can do for a campus. This basketball game is one of the biggest events all year, in fact, the 2011 game my frosh year is still the best night of my college career. After checking out the tailgate scene outside the Burrow and our traditions, take some ideas back to FIU, share them with your fellow alumni and students, and let's make this rivalry live up to it's potential. We can't do it by ourselves.
And trust me, nothing brings a community together better than hating the living snot out of somebody else. With Taylor and Mavin most likely making the trip up to Boca with the team, the student section side of the Burrow will get mean.
Save the date, March 2nd 7:00 PM. Any FIUGoldenPanther.com member is more than welcome to share some beers.

Yes it is a joke picture created many years ago as Owl Family Explained.
As for the move... YES I was one of the few that wanted to stay in the growing SBC. But I am not the voice of the school, FAU decided to move up, so I will embrace it. And as stated, if we don't go someone else will. So as of now, we have 4 teams from the Sun Belt in CUSA with talks of 2-3 more on the way. So CUSA will be the new Sun Belt apparently.
Plus the other benefit is the renewed rivalry with FIU. Did we talk crap about you guys moving, of course, you are our rival... we will talk crap about anything you guys do... so get used to it!
GO OWLS!

Hahahahaha, this is true.
"Did you hear FIU is now one of the top 50 universities for undergrad studies?"
"Haha yeah, those losers never even leave their dorm rooms, that's why their student section is always empty."
"Uhm bro, they sold out every game and are finally starting the upperdeck phase to their stadium."
"True, but I saw an open seat in the student section in the game vs. UAB, so their stadium is empty to me. And besides, last time I was at the Cage I ate a churro and it gave me the runs like the world was ending. That stadium sucks!"
I can see this conversation happening. And FWIW, I did get a nasty case of the craps from a churro at FIU stadium 2 years ago. LMAO

I can see how you pulled that from what he said, but I doubt that's what he meant. I think it was more of "so long as the Sun Belt doesn't lose anyone else(especially a top program) the idea of overtaking C-USA and perhaps even raiding them, was not completely ridiculous(at least not to the posters on this board)" but once MT was leaving it was clear that reloading and overtaking was going to be that much more difficult. Just because the mentality was rise up and overcome in the Sun Belt existed, doesn't necessarily imply that they would not have accepted an invite to C-USA if it came on it's own or with a different partner.

Yep, that's pretty much it right there. Thanks for the clarification PiKapp. But to answer your question, if only FAU got a bid, I would say no, but most in Boca would say yes.
