On a semi-serious note, Huggs pulled this stuff every year at some point in a postgame interview with Machock. Why should people act like this is some gawd awful new fangled occurance.

As someone stated earlier, "F@#k em, just F@#k em...'"

fro the record, I didn't like when Huggins did it either.

i think is wrong to say "We don't have enough customers and it's the customers fault for not coming"
YOU EARN them... unfortunatly for the players and coaches, they can't earn them alone, they need the help of the Administration, and rather than reaching out to the fanbase to try to help attendance they remain tight lipped and generally don't even seem to care.

I don't believe that the second quote is attributable to me. My position is that if you pulled out of season tickets due to the Huggs situation you have acted out of principle and you should be able to do what you want with your money. But if you come to the Syracuse game and don't bother coming to another game all year (as evidenced by the 3k or so people who came to that game but have obviously missed the other games since most games our attendance has only been 9 or 10K) then you really are a half assed fan. Yesterday's game was way more important than Syracuse. To have that little student support at a game of this importance for a team who has been playing their guts out shows that apathy many of our so-called "fans." This was going on long before Zimpher by the way. We had many games with poor attendance over the last few years against lesser opponents. I guess our students have become complacent. Maybe two years of single digit wins will wake them up and make them realize they wasted a free opportunity to watch one of the more courageous UC teams of the last 20 years this season.

Problem is, if Armein was still with the team, and we had won 2 out of the 3 versus UCONN, Syracuse and X, that game would have been nearly a sell out regardless of people's opinion of the administration.

Its been like this every year for a decade. When UC fans have reservations about the quality of the team we have on the floor, they only show up en mass when the opponent is a headliner. And this ebbs and flows during the season. If we win at Louisville and at Georgetown, we will probably have 11,000+ attend the South Florida game to watch a really uninspiring opponent. Everyone loves a winner. This drove Huggins freaking nuts. I remember attending games Lenny's senior year - forget what they announced, the place was a ghost town for a few of those C-USA home games

I agree 100% on this. There appears to be about 7000K hardcore fans who go no matter what and another 5 to 6K who go when the team is going well and don't go when the team has lost a few. The students seem to show up when the team is ranked and disappear at other times.
