RE: Life Elsewhere and Panspermia
Interesting how Lankaweb is the first I'm hearing about this. We've had cases of reported life shot down before, so I'm going to wait until we can get a peer reviewed study on this artifact completed and a bit more before I'm completely convinced. I'm interested if it could of been contaminated or how the fossilizations survived not only the trip to Earth, but the fall through the atmosphere and landing in the ground.

Wouldn't it be interesting though? That our first alien encounter came not from saucers or landers, or even alive! But from a dead rock falling from the sky. I'll keep up with this story.

I'm skeptical until it is confirmed from independent studies and review, however, I believe it's only a matter of time.

Sometimes I'm not sure if there is in telligent life on this planet; and I say this looking directly into a mirror.

Didn't want to start a new thread so I figured I'd just post this here.

Incredible pictures from Australia.

This is extremely relevant as well as it focuses on where life may REALLY exist elsewhere in our Universe.

This hoax has been tried several times before by many of the same people. They never learn:

Of course it is; but what fun!05-stirthepot

This is, however eventually going to happen for real. It is only a matter of time.

RE: Life Elsewhere and Panspermia
I have my doubts (as well as metaphysical objections). For one, I don't think that spontaneous generation of life is a mere "given" just because certain conditions may arise on a planet somewhere. Second, even if life did exist on another planet, it wouldn't be anywhere nearby, and the likelhood of any fossil finding it's way to our planet would be so remote as to become nonsensical.

Yep. The only way any intelligent life from outside our galaxy ever makes it to earth is by having survived billions and billions of years and bringing their species and civilization to the point that they are able to cross the cosmos however they wish, be it through harnessing black holes, bending the space time continuum or through perhaps some amazing new idea or philosophy that our best and brightest astrophysicists can't even conceive of yet.

Who knows.
