Two pro football teams is enough in the state. I am not being sarcastic either.

Obviously.

Or it would have been in blue.

Ah, but remember, at the end James Earl Jones points out at the driveway and says, "Build it, and they will come."

Which, in that context, is directly on point, whether you agree with said point or not.

RE: NFL to Birmingham?
I would doubt any sane NFL owner would consider a city whose only large football venue is almost 100 years old, has over 5000 of its best seats (50 yd line both sides+ Gold Seats) allocated to Stadium Certificate owners who can't be forced to buy season tickets since they by contract have until 7 days (east) or 30 days (west) before any individual football game to decide to buy before that ticket can be offered to anyone else and whose principal market is suburbanite folks who are generally more inclined to support the Crimson Tide or War Eagles than any (some would cynically insert "other" here) pro team.

Those latter folks are the same ones who voted down "MAPS" which they saw as designed to possibly attract a pro team and/or the Blazers football program, both of which they felt were antithetical to their team loyalty. There is also the faction that doesn't want any pro team that is not a regular winner - the last time the Bills were pressing for a new stadium and the city of Buffalo was reluctant, the Bills hinted they were ready to move but the comments here were "We want a winner, not a loser". They wanted Green Bay, not the Bills.

I'm gonna start sitting in those bastards' seats.

It's not like they'll be there to stop me.

A lot of folks already sit in those seats at UAB games since we have not yet reached the point where anyone complains if someone sits in their reserved seat. They just move a little ways and find other empty seats. I would like to know how that "SC" thing was handled for the bowl game considering how crowded the midsections were for that game. The west side would not be a big problem since it has the 30 day limit and the participating teams are not announced by then. The east stands with their 7 day limit might have caused an issue though.

RE: NFL to Birmingham?
The Bills were looking at Toronto. But I think they're going to stay where they are, Rich Stadium signed them to a long term lease, I think and more renovations to Rich Stadium forthcoming, it already looks immaculate to me from a distance. If the NFL does expand in the near future, Birmingham's not on their short list, can't be...Los Angeles is at the top of desired cities, if there's room for a second city, I would not bet against someone like Louisville or Oklahoma City. Birmingham's had one, maybe two golden opportunities to acquire an NFL team, but they allowed the crimson blight to dictate agenda to them, not to mention what Donald Trump's role in what prevented the USFL from getting at least 3 or 4 teams into the NFL, one of them definitely would have been the Stallions. Look where it's gotten this city now.

I know the jags and the Bills have been talking about moving.

What were his sources?

I'm sure Birmingham is on a list of cities to potentially expand into, but I doubt it cracks the top ten of favorites.

i dont believe this is true...if you go back and watch the movie, i believe you will find that you are incorrect. if im incorrect, please let me know
actually, now that i reread this, it may be correct (i have no idea)...but its certainly not the same as the original quote.

im pretty sure that the movie never, ever says "If you build it, they will come."
